JOHN MUIR MEDICAL CENTER, WALNUT CREEK SERVES AS THE ONLY COUNTY-DESIGNATED TRAUMA CENTER FOR THE AREA, WORKING CLOSELY WITH LOCAL EMERGENCY SERVICES LEADERS. TWO NEW, STATE OF THE ART CARDIAC OPERATING ROOMS OPENED AT CONCORD IN 2021 (FEBRUARY AND NOVEMBER). BOTH ROOMS FEATURE CEILING MOUNTED, ROTATING BOOMS THAT REMOVE EQUIPMENT FROM THE FLOOR AND ALLOW ERGONOMIC VIEWING DURING SURGERY, DEDICATED VENTILATION SYSTEM, LED HIGH PERFORMANCE CHROMOPHORE SURGICAL LIGHTS AND A VIDEO MANAGEMENT SYSTEM THAT ALLOWS CLINICAL STAFF THE ABILITY TO DISTRIBUTE VIDEO IMAGES TO ANY MONITOR WITHIN THE SUITE.
WOMENS'S AND CHILDREN'S SERVICES IS THE THIRD LARGEST PROGRAM WITHIN JOHN MUIR HEALTH. THE PEDIATRIC INTENSIVE CARE UNIT AT THE WALNUT CREEK MEDICAL CENTER IS CERTIFIED BY THE CALIFORNIA CHILDREN'S SERVICES. ACCOMPLISHMENTS IN 2021 INCLUDE:RENEWED THE OPERATING AGREEMENT FOR THE PEDIATRIC PARTNERSHIP WITH STANFORD CHILDREN'S HEALTH. THE NEONATAL AND PEDIATRIC CRITICAL CARE TRANSPORT TEAM IS ON SITE AT THE WALNUT CREEK MEDICAL CENTER AND AVAILABLE FOR TRANSPORT 12 HOURS PER DAY SEVEN DAYS PER WEEK. THE TEAM ALSO PROVIDES OUTREACH AND TRAINING TO COMMUNITY HOSPITALS IN CONTRA COSTA AND ALAMEDA COUNTIES.RECRUITED AND ON-BOARDED 2 FULL TIME AND 1 PART-TIME EEG TECHNICIANS. THE TECHNICIANS ARE AVAILABLE 12 HOURS PER DAY SEVEN DAYS PER WEEK. THIS REDUCES THE NUMBER OF NEONATAL AND PEDIATRIC PATIENTS THAT NEED TO BE TRANSPORTED TO OTHER HOSPITALS FROM THE WALNUT CREEK CAMPUS.MONTHLY ZOOM LUNCH AND LEARNS WERE SCHEDULED AND IMPLEMENTED. PEDIATRICIANS AND FAMILY PRACTICE PHYSICIANS WERE INVITED TO ATTEND ZOOM SESSIONS PRESENTED BY THE PEDIATRIC SPECIALIST.JOHN MUIR HEALTH AND STANFORD CHILDREN'S HEALTH OPENED THE EAST BAY SPINAL DEFORMITY CENTER IN PLEASANT HILL. THE CENTER INCLUDES STATE OF THE ART IMAGING FOR SCOLIOSIS AND OTHER DEFORMITIES. THIS IS THE ONLY CENTER IN CONTRA COSTA COUNTY WITH EOS CAPABILITIES. THIS IS A MEDICAL IMAGING SYSTEM THAT PROVIDES FRONTAL AND LATERAL RADIOGRAPHIC IMAGES WHILE LIMITING THE X-RAY DOSE ABSORBED BY THE PATIENT IN A SITTING OR STANDING POSITION.THE FOLLOWING PEDIATRIC SPECIALTIES WERE ADDED OR EXPANDED IN 2021: PEDIATRIC GASTROENTEROLOGY PEDIATRIC OTOLARYNGOLOGY PEDIATRIC UROLOGY PEDIATRIC DERMATOLOGY PEDIATRIC HEMATOLOGY/ONCOLOGY PEDIATRIC NEUROLOGYWITH SUPPORT FROM THE JOINT VENTURE, A SIMULATIONS OPERATIONS SPECIALIST HAS BEEN RECRUITED AND ON-BOARDED.
