SCBA IS A NONPROFIT BUSINESS ASSOCIATION SERVING THE LEGAL COMMUNITY IN AND AROUND SACRAMENTO COUNTY. THE ASSOCIATION, WHICH WAS STARTED IN 1919, IS MADE UP OF TWO DOZEN SECTIONS, DIVISIONS, AND COMMITTEES THAT OFFER PROGRAMS TO HELP ATTORNEYS ACHIEVE SPECIALIZATION AND SUBJECT-MATTER EXPERTISE IN A VARIETY OF PRACTICE AREAS. ADDITIONALLY, SCBA PARTNERS WITH AFFILIATE BAR ASSOCIATIONS AND ORGANIZATIONS THAT ADD TO THE DYNAMIC SACRAMENTO LEGAL COMMUNITY. THE SCBA STAFF - A SMALL 3-PERSON TEAM - ORGANIZES EVENTS, SUPPORTS EDUCATIONAL PROGRAMMING FOR LAWYERS, AND PROVIDES ADMINISTRATIVE SUPPORT TO THE SCBA EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE AND BOARD OF DIRECTORS. THE OFFICE IS TASKED WITH WEEKLY COMMUNICATIONS TO THE MEMBERSHIP AND OTHER EFFORTS AS NECESSARY. AS A MEMBER SERVICES ORGANIZATION, THE SCBA IS COMMITTED TO PROVIDING BENEFITS THAT ADD VALUE TO THE MEMBERS AND TO THE LEGAL COMMUNITY AS A WHOLE. 2021 ACCOMPLISHMENTS: 1.SOLICITED AND SECURED SIGNIFICANT COMMITMENT FROM BOARD MEMBERS, SECTIONS, DIVISIONS, AND COMMUNITY LEADERS. 2.MAINTAINED REGULAR MONTHLY MEETINGS WITH DIRECTORS. 3.EXECUTED RETENTION STRATEGY DEVELOPED IN 2020 TO MAINTAIN OVER 1,400 MEMBER ATTORNEYS DURING THE ONGOING PANDEMIC AND ECONOMIC SLOW-DOWN. 4.DEVELOPED A COMPLEX, ACTIVITIES-BASED BUDGET TO MORE CLOSELY ALIGN WITH SERVICES AND ACTIVITIES OF THE ASSOCIATION. 5.PREPARED BUDGET IN ORDER TO HIRE AN EXECUTIVE-LEVEL STAFF BEFORE THE END OF 2021. 6.MAINTAINED AND NURTURED A STRONG EXECUTIVE TEAM THAT CONTINUED TO FUNCTION AS THE DE FACTO EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR IN THE ABSENCE OF A SENIOR LEAD STAFF. 7.ADDRESSED TWO SIGNIFICANT STAFFING CHANGES WITH NEW HIRES (IN A VERY DIFFICULT AND COMPETITIVE JOB MARKET). 8.CONTINUED TO ORGANIZE REGULAR SUBJECT MATTER PROGRAMS TO HELP ATTORNEYS ACHIEVE CLE CREDITS. 9.CONDUCTED A FULLY REMOTE BENCH BAR RECEPTION AND ANNUAL MEETING TO HIGHLIGHT THE SUPER STARS OF THE PROFESSION AND GENERATE REVENUE FOR THE SCBA. 10.MAINTAINED POSITION AS A BRIDGE BETWEEN THE BAR (ATTORNEYS IN THE REGION) WITH THE BENCH (JUDICIAL OFFICERS). 11.CONTINUED TO SUPPORT AND ADVOCATE ON BEHALF OF PRO BONO SERVICES THROUGH THE SCBA'S PARTNER CAPITAL PRO BONO. 12.PROVIDED FEE ARBITRATION SERVICES. 13.CONTINUED TO OPERATE IN A 100% REMOTE ENVIRONMENT TO PROTECT THE HEALTH AND SAFETY OF SCBA'S STAFF AND DIRECTORS.
