THE CALIFORNIA FORESTRY ASSOCIATION KEEP MEMBERS - WHO ARE PRIVATE LANDOWNERS, FOREST MANAGERS, AND PRODUCERS OF WOOD PRODUCTS - INFORMED OF RULES, REGULATIONS, LITIGATION, AND LEGISLATION WHICH IMPACTS THE USE OF TIMBER PRODUCTS AND TIMBER SALES. THE CALIFORNIA FORESTRY ASSOCIATION, THROUGH ANNUAL STRATEGIC PLANNING, DEVELOPS A PLATFORM AND WORKPLAN THAT SERVES AS INTERNAL GUIDANCE FOR LEGISLATIVE AND REGULATORY ACTION FOR YEAR GIVEN YEAR.


THE REGULATORY AFFAIRS PROGRAM DEVELOPS AND IMPLEMENTS PROACTIVE REGULATORY POLICY AND STRATEGIES. IT MONITORS STATE REGULATORY INITIATIVES AND PROVIDES MEMBERS WITH REGULATORY ANALYSIS AND BRIEFINGS, AS WELL AS SUPPLYING TESTIMONY RELATED TO PROPOSED REGULATIONS. CALIFORNIA FORESTRY ASSOCIATION STAFF SERVED ON THE FEDERAL TIMBER PURCHASERS COMMITTEE WHICH MONITORS FEDERAL TIMBER SALES.


THE COMMUNICATIONS PROGRAM CONDUCTED COMMUNITY OUTREACH, PUBLIC RELATIONS, AND MEDIA RELATIONS. WORK INCLUDED PREPARATION OF OPINION EDITORIALS, MESSAGING MATERIALS, AND WEB BLOGS. THE WEBSITE WAS REDESIGNED TO PROVIDE MORE USER FRIENDLY INFORMATION. STAFF SERVED ON PANELS AND MADE PRESENTATIONS TO VARIOUS GROUPS REGARDING FOREST MANAGMENT AND FIRE PREVENTION.
