THE MISSION OF THE FARM BUREAU OF SAN MATEO COUNTY IS TO PRESERVE, PROMOTE AND PROTECT AGRICULTURAL INTERESTS IN SAN MATEO COUNTY AS A BUSINESS AND A WAY OF LIFE.

SAN MATEO COUNTY FARM BUREAU MONITORS LOCAL, STATE AND NATIONAL ISSUES THAT MAY IMPACT THEIR MEMBER'S ABILITY TO CONTINUE TO PRODUCE FOOD AND FIBER. THEY KEEP MEMBERS INFORMED ON IMPORTANT ISSUES INCLUDING THE GENERAL PLAN, WATER ISSUES, AND AIR AND ENVIRONMENTAL ISSUES. SMCFB SUPPORTS LOCAL YOUTH ACTIVITIES INCLUDING 4H AND FFA. THESE PROGRAMS ARE DESIGNED TO ENCOURAGE STUDENTS TO LEARN ABOUT AGRICULTURE FOR BOTH ON AND OFF FARM STUDENTS.THE SAN MATEO COUNTY FARM BUREAU OFFERS SCHOLARSHIPS TO LOCAL STUDENTS WHO PLAN ON MAJORING IN AN AG-RELATED FIELD IN COLLEGE. IN 2020, THEY SELECTED 4 LOCAL STUDENTS TO RECEIVE SCHOLARSHIP AWARDS. THE FARM BUREAU IS ON OF TWO ORGANIZATIONS DESIGNATED BY THE COUNTY OF SAN MATEO TO RECEIVE FUNDING TO PROMOTE THE "AS FRESH AS IT GETS" PROGRAM. THIS PROGRAM BRINGS GROWERS AND RESTAURANTS, GROCERY STORES, ETC TOGETHER TO PROMOTE LOCALLY GROWN PRODUCTS. SMCFB IS ACTIVELY INVOLVED IN WORKING WITH MEMBERS IN MANAGING AND CONTROLLING WATERSHED ACTIVITIES, INCLUDING STREAM MONITORING, DAM REMOVAL AND OTHER PROJECTS DESIGNED TO IMPROVE THE ENVIRONMENT. SMCFB RECEIVED 2 COUNTY ACTIVITIES OF EXCELLENCE AWARDS FROM THE CALIFORNIA FARM BUREAU.
