Part 3 - Line 4a
SHRINK THE CORRECTIONS SYSTEM: PSJ ADVANCES REFORMS THAT PROMOTE PUBLIC SAFETY AND HEALTHY COMMUNITIES, WHILE REDUCING OVERCRIMINALIZATION AND RELIANCE ON INCARCERATION AS THE DEFAULT RESPONSE TO CRIME. WE ADVOCATE FOR REINVESTMENT OF THESE PUBLIC RESOURCES IN APPROACHES THAT ARE MORE EFFECTIVE, LESS DAMAGING, AND MEET THE NEEDS OF THE PEOPLE MOST DIRECTLY IMPACTED BOTH BY CRIME AND THE CRIMINAL JUSTICE SYSTEM, INCLUDING CRIME VICTIMS, PEOPLE WHO HAVE CAUSED HARM, THEIR FAMILIES, AND THEIR COMMUNITIES.
BUILD LOCAL SOLUTIONS: PSJ DEVELOPS AND ADVOCATES FOR ESSENTIAL SERVICES THAT CRIME SURVIVORS NEED TO REBUILD THEIR LIVES AS WELL AS INNOVATIVE LOCAL ALTERNATIVES TO CRIMINALIZATION AND INCARCERATION. WE ADDRESS THE UNDERLYING CAUSES OF CRIME BY PROMOTING ACCOUNTABILITY, HEALING, AND SAFETY THROUGH COMMUNITY-CENTERED APPROACHES, SUCH AS RESTORATIVE JUSTICE, HARM REDUCTION, AND HEALTH-BASED RESPONSES.
TRANSFORMING EXPECTATIONS OF THE CRIMINAL JUSTICE SYSTEM: WE WORK TO ESTABLISH HOLISTIC REFORMS THAT ADDRESS THE NEEDS OF THE PEOPLE DIRECTLY IMPACTED BY CRIME AND THE CRIMINAL JUSTICE SYSTEM, RATHER THAN THE SYSTEMS THEMSELVES. WE SPECIFICALLY FOCUS ON COMMUNITIES OF COLOR TO ENSURE EFFECTIVE PREVENTION, ACCOUNTABILITY, AND EXPANSION OF THE RESOURCES NEEDED TO BUILD HEALTHY, SAFE COMMUNITIES.
HEALTH JUSTICE RECOVERY ALLIANCE: FISCALLY SPONSORED BY THE PARTNERSHIP FOR SAFETY AND JUSTICE, THE HEALTH JUSTICE RECOVERY ALLIANCE IS THE STATEWIDE RECOVERY ADVOCACY COALITION WORKING TO ENSURE THAT THE DRUG ADDICTION TREATMENT & RECOVERY ACT IS IMPLEMENTED FULLY AND WITHOUT DELAY, CENTERING THE NEEDS OF COMMUNITIES MOST HARMED BY THE WAR ON DRUGS BLACK, LATINX, NATIVE AND TRIBAL COMMUNITIES.
