IMMIGRANT DEFENDERS LAW CENTER IS A NEXT GENERATION, SOCIAL JUSTICE LAW FIRM THAT DEFENDS OUR IMMIGRANT COMMUNITIES AGAINST INJUSTICES IN THE LEGAL SYSTEM.

DURING 2020 IMMDEF PROVIDED LEGAL REPRESENTATION, CONSULTATIONS, AND LEGAL EDUCATION TO IMMIGRANT COMMUNITIES ACROSS SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA WITH PARTICULAR FOCUS ON UNACCOMPANIED CHILDREN IN GOVERNMENT CUSTODY, DETAINED ADULTS WITH MENTAL HEALTH DISABILITIES, SEPARATED FAMILIES, AND ASYLUM SEEKERS IMPACTED BY THE MIGRANT PROTECTION PROTOCOLS, TITLE 42 IMPLEMENTATION, AND OTHER CRUEL ICE AND CBP ENFORCEMENT TACTICS. DUE TO THE COVID-19 PANDEMIC, OUR LEGAL REPRESENTATION AND CASE MANAGEMENT SERVICES BECAME LIFE-SAVING FOR MANY OF OUR CLIENTS, PARTICULARLY OUR DETAINED CLIENTS, WHO WERE AT HIGH RISK OF COVID-19. THROUGH HUMANITARIAN PAROLE, HABEAS CORPUS, AND PAROLE REQUESTS IMMDEFS LEGAL TEAM WON RELEASE FOR IMMIGRANT COMMUNITY MEMBERS SO THAT THEY COULD QUARANTINE SAFELY. IN ADDITION, IMMDEF WORKED TO HOLD THE GOVERNMENT ACCOUNTABLE FOR THE MISTREATMENT OF ASYLUM SEEKERS AND UNACCOMPANIED MINORS AT THE BORDER THROUGH SEVERAL IMPACT LITIGATION LAWSUITS.
