SEASHORE FAMILY LITERACY IS A MULTI-FACETED ORGANIZATION. WITH A DEDICATION TO HELPING CHILDREN, ADULTS AND FAMILIES IMPROVE THEIR LIVES AND COMMUNITIES, SEASHORE OFFERS A VARIETY OF PROGRAMS FOR ALL AGES AND INTERESTS. ALL PROGRAMS ARE FREE AND TAKE PLACE AT THE DANOBLE HOUSE, CENTER FOR LEARNING BUILDING & JOY GARDEN OR GREEN BIKE CO-OP IN WALDPORT, OREGON. DURING 2021 THE AFTER-SCHOOL PROGRAM SERVED 10 STUDENTS FOR INDIVIDUAL TUTORING. THE SUMMER LUNCH AND GARDEN PROGRAMS SERVED 25 STUDENTS, WHILE OTHER PROGRAMS AT THE CENTER FOR LEARNING (READ & FEED, UKELELE GROUP) SERVED VARYING NUMBERS FROM 10-50 INDIVIDUALS.
AFTER-SCHOOL PROGRAM - ADULT VOLUNTEER MENTORS ARE PAIRED WITH STUDENTS TO OFFER CARE, ATTENTION AND ACADEMIC GUIDANCE. AVAILABLE FOR ALL AGES MONDAY-FRIDAY 3:00 - 5:30. ADULT LITERACY -ONE-TO-ONE TUTORING AND GED PREP HELP IS AVAILABLE TO ADULTS AT ALL STAGES OF LEARNING. VOLUNTEER & VOCATIONAL TRAINING -COMPREHENSIVE TRAINING PROVIDED QUARTERLY, INCLUDING CPR, FOOD HANDLERS CLASSES, DARKNESS TO LIGHT, MENTAL HEALTH, FIRST AID, BASIC COMPUTER SKILLS TRAININGS.
GREEN BIKES- AS IT HAS SINCE THE BEGINNING, THE BIKE SHARE PROGRAM WORKS ONTHE HONOR SYSTEM. IF A BIKE IS TIED UP WITH A YELLOW ROPE, IT IS IN USE. IF IT IS UNTIED IT IS FREE TO USE. ANYONE CAN USE THE BIKE AS LONG AS THEY NEED IT AND WHEN FINISHED THEY CAN RETURN IT TO THE GREEN BIKE CO-OP SHOP IN TOWN OR LEAVE IT IN A PUBLIC LOCATION.
