EVENTS AND CLASSES DEDICATED TO STUDYING AND SHARING THE MUSIC AND CULTURE OF ZIMBABWE. ARTIST-IN-RESIDENCE PROGRAM HAS THE DUAL GOALS OF BRINGING AUTHENTIC, ACCOMPLISHED ZIMBABWEAN MUSICIANS AND MUSIC TEACHERS TO TEACH AND INTERACT WITH ITS MEMBERS AND WITH MEMBERS OF THE PUBLIC, AND TO HELP PROMOTE THESE ZIMBABWEAN MUSICIANS IN THEIR TEACHING AND PERFORMING CAREERS, THUS ENABLING THEM TO KEEP THESE UNIQUE STYLES ALIVE AND AVAILABLE TO THE PUBLIC. IN PRACTICAL TERMS, THE PROGRAM REQUIRES KUTSINHIRA TO FUND AND PROVIDE ROOM, BOARD AND LOCAL TRANSPORTATION FOR ITS GUESTS, AND ARRANGE THEIR TRAVEL AND VISA APPLICATIONS. THE ZIMBABWE COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT PROGRAMS WAS INITIATED TO PROVIDE SUPPORT FOR COMMUNITY HEALTH AND EDUCATION EFFORTS IN ZIMBABWE. THE PROGRAM GREW OUT OF CLOSE MUSICAL AND PERSONAL CONNECTIONS THAT KUTSINHIRA MEMBERS DEVELOPED WITH THEIR ZIMBABWEAN TEACHERS AND FRIENDS. KUTSINHIRA RAISES FUNDS FOR THE PROGRAM THROUGH CONCERTS FEATURING ZIMBABWEAN MUSIC AND ARTISTS, RELATED MERCHANDISE SALES AND DONATIONS TO SUPPORT COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT PROJECTS IN ZIMBABWE.
