TO PROVIDE BREAST HEALTH EDUCATION TO THE WOMEN AND FAMILIES THROUGHOUT KERN COUNTY. TO EDUCATE THE COMMUNITY ON WHEN YOU NEED TO BEGIN BREAST SELF-EXAM, WHEN TO BEGIN HAVING MAMMOGRAMS AND IF THERE IS A CHANGE IN YOUR BREAST TO MAKE AN APPOINTMENT WITH A PHYSICIAN TO GO IN TO BE SCREENED.
THE COMPREHENSIVE BREAST HEALTH PROGRAM (CBHP) ASSISTING IN FUNDING MAMMOGRAMS, ULTRASOUNDS, AND NEEDLE BIOPSIES FOR WOMEN AND OR MEN THAT ARE UNDER OR UNINSURED. THIS PROGRAM IS AVAILABLE TO REDUCE THE BARRIERS FOR OUR COMMUNITY AND TO ALLOW CLIENTS ACCESS TO EARLY SCREENING SO THEY HAVE ACCESS TO EARLY DIAGNOSIS. WITH AN EARLY DIAGNOSIS OF BREAST CANCER YOUR 5 YEAR SURVIVAL RATES IS 98%.
LINK TO RESOURCES ASSIST WITH PATIENTS AND FAMILIES AFTER DIAGNOSIS. THERE IS A WIG BOUTIQUE FOR ANYONE FACING HAIR LOSS DUE CANCER TREATMENT. THERE ARE BRAS AND PROSTHESIS FOR THOSE WHO DO NOT HAVE COVERAGE FROM THEIR INSURANCE. THERE ARE FOUR SUPPORT GROUPS, THE GENERAL SUPPORT GROUP FOR ALL BREAST CANCER SURVIVORS AND THEIR FAMILY. THERE IS THE UNDER 40ISH AND OVER 40ISH SUPPORT GROUP, THE GRUPO DE ESPERANZA, STRONG LINKS, AND HUSBAND HANGOUT. ALONG WITH THE SUPPORT GROUPS WE HAVE THE GROCERY CARD PROGRAM. THIS PROGRAM SUPPLIES BREAST CANCER SURVIVORS, WHILE IN ACTIVE TREATMENT, GROCERY CARDS ASSIST THE PATIENTS WITH NECESSITIES WHILE IN TREATMENT. THEY MEET WITH A DIETITIAN AND RECEIVE SEASONAL HEALTH RECIPES. THE CARDS ARE SUPPLIED TO THE PATIENT BIMONTHLY OR QUARTERLY.
