NETWORKING CALIFORNIA FOR SICKLE CELL CARE (NCSCC). THE MAIN OBJECTIVE OF NCSCC PROCESS IS FOR PROVIDERS, AGENCIES, AND THE COMMUNITY TO COLLABORATIVELY IMPLEMENT THIS COLLECTIVELY DEVELOPED COHESIVE PLAN. THE PLAN ARTICULATES SPECIFIC GOALS TO ENSURE THAT INDIVIDUALS WITH SICKLE CELL DISEASE RECEIVE COMPREHENSIVE, PATIENT-CENTERED, COORDINATED, ACCESSIBLE, SAFE, AND HIGH-QUALITY CARE NO MATTER WHERE THEY LIVE OR SEEK CARE IN CALIFORNIA. THE NCSCC PARTNERING ORGANIZATIONS ARE THE SICKLE CELL DISEASE FOUNDATION AND THE CENTER FOR INHERITED BLOOD DISORDERS (CIBD), A NON-PROFIT HEMATOLOGY CENTER OF EXCELLENCE THAT PROVIDES EDUCATION, SUPPORT, AND MULTIDISCIPLINARY, FAMILY-CENTERED SERVICES TO ADULTS AND CHILDREN WITH ALL FORMS OF AN INHERITED DISORDERS.


OTHER PROGRAMS AND SERVICES EXPENSES AND REVENUE INCLUDES: FAMILY PROGRAMS, SPECIAL PROJECTS, PACIFIC SICKLE CELL REGIONAL COLLABORATIVE, HEALTH RESOURCES SERVICES ADMINISTRATION NEWBORN SCREENING.


VACCINE ACCESS GRANT. THE SCDF WAS AWARDED A GRANT FROM THE HEALTH RESOURCES SERVICE AGENCY (HRSA) TO EDUCATE AND ENCOURAGE INDIVIDUALS WITH SICKLE CELL DISEASE AND THE GENERAL PUBLIC TO GET VACCINATED. FUNDS WERE DISTRIBUTED THROUGHOUT THE STATE TO OTHER SICKLE CELL PROGRAMS AND ARIZONA, WASHINGTON STATE, OREGON, AND NEVADA. IT IS A ONE-YEAR GRANT FOR $1 MIL.


CALIFORNIA NEWBORN SCREENING PROGRAM - SINCE 1978, THE SICKLE CELL DISEASE FOUNDATION HAS PROVIDED COUNSELING, EDUCATION, AND TRAINING SERVICES THROUGHOUT CALIFORNIA. COUNSELING FOR PARENTS OF NEWBORNS IDENTIFIED WITH A HEMOGLOBIN TRAIT IS OFFERED FREE FOLLOW-UP COUNSELING AND TESTING. THE SCDF ALSO PROVIDES A CERTIFICATION COURSE IN SINGLE-GENE COUNSELING. IN ADDITION, THE FOUNDATION OFFERS CLASSES IN SICKLE CELL DISEASE AND UNDERSTANDING THE SCIENCE.
