RECOGNIZING THE VITAL CONTRIBUTION OF FARMWORKERS TO OUR ECONOMY, THE MISSION OF FHDC IS TO DEVELOP FARMWORKER LEADERSHIP FOR STRONGER AND MORE SECURE FAMILIES AND COMMUNITIES THROUGH AFFORDABLE HOUSING, SOCIAL SERVICES, EDUCATION AND ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT.WE CARRY OUT THIS MISSION BY PURSUING THESE GOALS: TO DEVELOP AND MANAGE AFFORDABLE HOUSING LOCATED WITHIN URBAN GROWTH BOUNDARIES; TO PROVIDE SOCIAL SERVICES THAT PROMOTE PERSONAL AND ECONOMIC SELF-SUFFICIENCY; TO INCLUDE FARMWORKERS IN DECISION-MAKING AND ONGOING PROJECT MANAGEMENT; TO DEVELOP AND SUPPORT THE LEADERSHIP OF FARMWORKERS WITHIN THE LARGER COMMUNITY; AND TO BUILD AND STRENGTHEN COMMUNITY PARTNERSHIP

FHDC OWNS AND OPERATES FARMWORKER HOUSING IN WOODBURN, STAYTON, AND SUBLIMITY, OREGON. ESPERANZA COURT, SUMMERSET, AND WESTSIDE HOUSING PROJECTS ARE RENTAL UNITS WITH 12, 24 AND 24 UNITS RESPECTIVELY. DUE TO THE REQUIREMENTS OF THE VARIOUS SOURCES OF FUNDING USED IN FINANCING AFFORDABLE HOUSING, FHDC IS REQUIRED TO MAINTAIN THE HOUSING FOR AFFORDABLE PURPOSES OVER VARYING AMOUNTS OF TIME UP TO 50 YEARS.


FHDC PROVIDES AFTER SCHOOL AND EARLY CHILDHOOD EDUCATION PROGRAMS THAT PROMOTE SCHOOL READINESS, REDUCE DROPOUT RATES, AND ENCOURAGE HIGH SCHOOL GRADUATION. FHDC BELIEVES EDUCATION LEADS TO A GREATER CIVIC PARTICIPATION AND HEALTHIER COMMUNITIES. THE CIPRIANO FERREL EDUCATION CENTER IS A MULTI-PURPOSE COMMUNITY FACILITY DEVELOPED AND OWNED BY FHDC TO SERVE PRIMARILY THE EDUCATIONAL NEEDS OF NUEVO AMANECER RESIDENTS, A FARMWORKER MULTI-FAMILY DEVELOPMENT IN WOODBURN, OREGON. THE FACILITY IS ALSO AVAILABLE TO OTHER RESIDENTS AND THE COMMUNITY.
