ASSISTANCE LEAGUE OF AMADOR VALLEY IS AN ALL VOLUNTEER, NONPROFIT ORGANIZATION THAT SERVES THE NEEDS OF CHILDREN, TEENS AND SENIORS IN THE TRI-VALLEY.

Part 3 - Line 4a

OPERATION SCHOOL BELL: PROVIDES CLOTHING, BOOKS, AND TUTORING SERVICES FOR ELEMENTARY SCHOOL STUDENTS IN THE LIVERMORE, PLEASANTON, AND DUBLIN SCHOOL DISTRICTS. THE PROGRAM PROVIDES DIAGNOSTIC SCREENING SERVICES FOR PRESCHOOL CHILDREN FOR EARLY DETECTION OF EYE PROBLEMS AS WELL AS BIRTHDAY GIFTS TO CHILDREN WHO HAVE A BIRTHDAY DURING THEIR STAY AT THE TRI-VALLEY HAVEN FOR WOMEN IN LIVERMORE. IT ALSO PROVIDES EDUCATIONAL GAMES, SUPPLIES, BOOKS, AND CRAFT PROJECTS FOR FOSTER CHILDREN SPENDING SUPERVISED TIME WITH THEIR BIOLOGICAL PARENTS. THE CHAPTER ALSO AWARDS ANNUAL COLLEGE SCHOLARSHIPS.


COMMUNITY: PROVIDING SUPPORT TO THE PLEASANTON SENIOR CENTER BY MAINTAINING A MAGAZINE LIBRARY AND PARTICIPATING IN THE BOOK BUDDIES PROGRAM WHICH MATCHES SENIORS WITH 3RD GRADERS FOR ASSISTANCE WITH READING SKILLS. THE ORGANIZATION ALSO PROVIDES SUPPORT TO THE PLEASANTON NURSING AND REHABILITATION CENTER, BY ASSISTING WITH SPECIAL EVENTS. THEY ALSO MAINTAIN COMMUNITY INVOLVEMENT BY PROVIDING FOOD ON A WEEKLY BASIS TO A LOCAL FOOD PANTRY IN LIVERMORE AND ASSIST WITH THE STOCKING AND DISTRIBUTION OF THE FOOD.
