THE MISSION OF NORDIC NORTHWEST IS TO HIGHLIGHT, HONOR, EDUCATE, COMMUNICATE, PROMOTE, AND CELEBRATE NORDIC CULTURE AND TRADITIONS, ANCESTRAL, MODERN AND CONTEMPORARY. ALSO TO PROVIDE VALUE AND SERVE MEMBERS BY DEVELOPING AND MAKING AVAILABLE AND ACCESSIBLE NORDIC CULTURAL AND EDUCATIONAL PROGRAMMING THAT IS RICH, AUTHENTIC, AND FORWARD LOOKING.

OUR CULTURAL CENTER AND FOUR-ACRE CAMPUS WAS A THRIVING HUB WITH 155,281 PARTICIPANTS (DUPLICATED) AND VISITORS ENGAGED IN OUR EXHIBITS, PROGRAMS, FESTIVALS AND ENJOYING NORDIC CUISINE. NORDIC NORTHWEST PRESENTED A RANGE OF PROGRAMMING WITH 184 CULTURAL PROGRAMS AND FIVE EXHIBITS. PROGRAMMING INCLUDED FILMS, PERFORMANCE, LECTURES, CLASSES, AND WORKSHOPS FOCUSED ON THE HISTORY, CULTURE, ARTS, SCIENCE, CUISINE, AND TECHNOLOGY OF THE FIVE NORDIC COUNTRIES: DENMARK, FINLAND, ICELAND, NORWAY, AND SWEDEN.A HIGHLIGHT INCLUDES THE INSTALLATION OF A LARGE FREE PUBLIC ART EXHIBIT, OUR TROLL, OLE BOLLE, CREATED BY DANISH ARTIST THOMAS DAMBO. FASHIONED ENTIRELY OUT OF RECYCLED MATERIALS, THE ART INSTALLATION TURNED TRASH INTO A TREASURED TROLL WHO TELLS A TALE OF PROTECTING NATURE AND HONORING OUR LAND. OLE BOLLE ATTRACTED AN ESTIMATED 79,495 VISITORS TO THE NORDIC NORTHWEST CAMPUS. OLE BOLLE'S INFLUENCE HAS SPARKED INTEREST IN EDUCATIONAL PROGRAMMING, WITH NORDIC NORTHWEST NOW HELPING SCHOOLS AND ORGANIZATIONS ARRANGE FIELD TRIPS TO THE CAMPUS. THESE VISITS AIM TO EDUCATE VISITORS ON SUSTAINABILITY AND ENVIRONMENTAL CARE WHILE ENCOURAGING A SENSE OF CREATIVITY AND INNOVATION. OVERALL, THE ARRIVAL OF OLE BOLLE HAS SPARKED A POSITIVE TRANSFORMATION ON THE NORDIC NORTHWEST CAMPUS, BRINGING TOGETHER PEOPLE FROM ALL WALKS OF LIFE TO CELEBRATE ART, CULTURE, AND THE ENVIRONMENT. NORDIC NORTHWEST SAW A LARGE INCREASE IN NEW VISITORS AND ATTENDEES FOR 2024 PROGRAMMING. NEW PROGRAMS WERE INTRODUCED INCLUDING A TROLL MOVIE NIGHT SERIES, YOUTH COMIC CLASSES, A MOBILE SAUNA, AND A TRIVIA NIGHT. COLLABORATION WITH NORDIC NORTHWEST VOLUNTEER PROGRAM COMMITTEES CONTINUES TO HOST BUS TRIPS, FOGELBO TOURS, AND CUISINE PROGRAMS.
VARIOUS PROGRAMS FOCUSED ON NORDIC HERITAGE
SCANFAIR WAS ENJOYED BY A RECORD BREAKING 8,052 GUESTS AT THE OREGON CONVENTION CENTER WHERE THEY EXPERIENCED THE SIGHTS, SOUNDS, TASTES AND TRADITIONS OF A NORDIC CHRISTMAS MARKET.
AT THE SECOND ANNUAL VIKING BEER FEST 2,059 GUESTS EMBARKED ON A MESMERIZING JOURNEY TO THE HEART OF VIKING HERITAGE, WHERE FROTHY BREWS AND NORDIC TRADITIONS MELD INTO A SINGULAR, UNFORGETTABLE EXPERIENCE.
