NAMI MULTNOMAH IS THE MULTNOMAH COUNTY AFFILIATE FOR THE NATIONAL ALLIANCE ON MENTAL ILLNESS. OUR MISSION IS TO IMPROVE THE QUALITY OF LIFE FOR PEOPLE WITH MENTAL ILLNESS AND THEIR FAMILIES THROUGH SUPPORT, EDUCATION, AND ADVOCACY. WE AIM TO PROVIDE A PLATFORM THAT ALLOWS PERSONS AFFECTED BY MENTAL ILLNESS TO HAVE A POWERFUL VOICE IN THE LOCAL MENTAL HEALTH COMMUNITY.NAMI MULTNOMAH PROVIDES FREE, PEER-LED EDUCATION PROGRAMS, SUPPORT GROUPS, AND ADVOCACY INITIATIVES THAT ACTIVELY SUPPORT COMMUNITY MENTAL HEALTH. WE PASSIONATELY PROMOTE IMPROVED ACCESS TO SERVICES, INCREASED OPPORTUNITIES FOR RECOVERY, REDUCED STIGMA AND DISCRIMINATION, AND INCREASED PUBLIC UNDERSTANDING OF MENTAL ILLNESS. CHILD AND FAMILY PROGRAMS - THIS PROGRAM PROVIDES SUPPORT AND EDUCATIONAL TRAINING TO FAMILIES AND CARETAKERS WITH SCHOOL-AGE DEPENDENTS WITH BEHAVIORAL HEALTH CONDITIONS.WRAPAROUND SERVICES/FAMILY PARTNERS - DIRECT SUPPORT TO FAMILIES PARTICIPATING IN MULTNOMAH COUNTY'S WRAPAROUND PROGRAM, WHOSE CHILDREN ARE INVOLVED WITH MULTIPLE SERVICE SYSTEMS SUPPORTING THE CHILD'S MENTAL HEALTH.CONTINUED ON SCHEDULE O.CRISIS AND TRANSITION SERVICES/FAMILY PARTNERS - OFFERS SUPPORT, EDUCATION AND ADVOCACY TO FAMILIES WHOSE CHILD HAS GONE TO THE EMERGENCY DEPARTMENT DUE TO A MENTAL HEALTH CRISIS.FAMILY ENGAGEMENT - THIS PROGRAM WORKS TO INCREASE THE INVOLVEMENT OF FAMILY AND YOUTH IN MENTAL HEALTH POLICY-MAKING GROUPS AND ADVOCACY ROLES IN ORDER TO CREATE FAMILY-DRIVEN SERVICES.
EDUCATION AND SUPPORT PROGRAMS - THIS PROGRAM INCLUDES A VARIETY OF NAMI SIGNATURE AND OTHER EDUCATIONAL AND SUPPORT PROGRAMS FOR INDIVIDUALS LIVING WITH MENTAL HEALTH CONDITIONS AND THEIR FAMILIES. ALL OF OUR NAMI SIGNATURE CLASSES AND GROUPS ARE TAUGHT/FACILITATED BY TRAINED NAMI MULTNOMAH VOLUNTEERS WITH LIVED EXPERIENCE. MANY OF OUR CLASSES OFFER CULTURALLY-SPECIFIC OPTIONS FOR THE BIPOC, LGBTQ+, AND VETERAN COMMUNITIES.
