THE AMERICAN ACADEMY OF PEDIATRICS DISTRICT VIII SECTION OF NEONATAL-PERINATAL MEDICINE WAS FORMED TO PROVIDE A YEARLY EDUCATIONAL CONFERENCE FOR ALL NEONATOLOGISTS, PEDIATRICIANS, AND OTHER MID-LEVEL PROVIDERS (NURSE PRACTITIONERS, PHYSICIAN ASSISTANTS, NURSES, RESPIRATORY THERAPY) IN THE WESTERN UNITED STATES AND CANADA, EXCLUDING CALIFORNIA. THIS MEETING IS ATTENDED BY APPROXIMATELY 100-150 PEOPLE AND PRESENTS SESSIONS FOCUSED ON IMPROVING THE CARE OF MOTHERS AND BABIES IN THE PERINATAL PERIOD. WE HOSTED A VIRTUAL CONFERENCE IN 2021 DUE TO COVID PRECAUTIONS. CONTINUING MEDICAL EDUCATION CREDIT IS PROVIDED FOR THE CONFERENCE. OUR MISSION INCLUDES SUPPORTING TRAINEES IN NEONATAL-PERINATAL MEDICINE SO THEY CAN ATTEND OUR MEETING, PRESENT THEIR SCHOLARLY WORK, AND FIND OUT ABOUT POTENTIAL JOB OPPORTUNITIES WITHIN OUR DISTRICT.
