HEALTH PROMOTION SERVICES - ALSO KNOWN AS NUESTRA COMUNIDAD SANA (OUR HEALTHY COMMUNITY), HEALTH PROMOTION SERVICES OFFERS CULTURALLY-APPROPRIATE HEALTH PROMOTION AND DISEASE PREVENTION SERVICES AND LEADERSHIP DEVELOPMENT TO THE LATINE COMMUNITY IN THE COLUMBIA GORGE. PROGRAMS INCLUDE MID-COLUMBIA HEALTH EQUITY ADVOCATES (MCHEA); HEALTH PROMOTION AND CHRONIC DISEASE PREVENTION (HPCDP); PROTECTING OUR CHILDREN; VALLE VERDE; HPV VACCINATIONS FOR ME, FOR MY KIDS, FOR MY COMMUNITY; ADVANCE DIRECTIVES (AD); DRUG FREE COMMUNITIES (DFC) ODELL HISPANIC COALITION; AND HOMBRES AUTORRESPONSABLES PARA PARAR EL ABUSO (HAPA). VALLE VERDE IS A MENTAL AND EMOTIONAL HEALTH PROMOTION PROGRAM FOR COMMUNITY HEALTH WORKERS AND COMMUNITY MEMBER TO INCREASE AWARENESS AND DECREASE STIGMA IN THE LATINE COMMUNITY REGARDING TOPICS OF EMOTIONAL WELLNESS. ADVANCE DIRECTIVES (AD) IS AN OUTREACH CAMPAIGN ON AD, TO RAISE AWARENESS OF THE AD TO OUR ADULT COMMUNITIES IN THE GORGE. DRUG FREE COMMUNITIES (DFC) ODELL HISPANIC COALITION IS A LEADERSHIP AND DRUG PREVENTION PROMOTION COALITION IN THE LATINE COMMUNITY. HOMBRES AUTORESPONSABLES PARA PARAR EL ABUSO (HAPA) IS A DOMESTIC VIOLENCE TREATMENT FOR SPANISH-SPEAKING PERPETRATORS IN HOOD RIVER AND THE DALLES.
TREATMENT SERVICES - PROGRAMS HOUSED WITHIN TREATMENT SERVICES PROVIDE EDUCATION AND MENTAL HEALTH SERVICES FOR YOUTH IN OREGON'S FOSTER CARE SYSTEM, AS WELL AS CHILDREN AND FAMILIES ON MEDICAID.THE KLAHRE HOUSE AND KELLY AVENUE ALTERNATIVE SCHOOLS OFFER COURSEWORK IN THE AREAS OF LITERATURE, WRITING, MATH, SOCIAL STUDIES, SCIENCE, HEALTH, ART AND COMPUTER TECHNOLOGY. TEACHERS USE LECTURE, DISCUSSION, MEDIA, GROUPS, INDIVIDUAL PROJECTS, AND GUEST SPEAKERS AND ARTISTS TO ACHIEVE A RANGE OF EDUCATIONAL GOALS. THE KLAHRE HOUSE PROGRAM INCLUDES MENTAL HEALTH AND COUNSELING SERVICES ALONG WITH INDIVIDUAL, GROUP AND FAMILY THERAPY, PSYCHOLOGICAL AND BEHAVIORAL SKILL DEVELOPMENT, MEDICATION MANAGEMENT, ADDICTION AND SEX OFFENDER TREATMENT, AND PSYCHIATRIC SERVICES AND CONSULTATION. THE THERAPEUTIC FOSTER CARE PROGRAM PROVIDES CHILDREN FROM ACROSS OREGON WITH SHORT- AND LONG-TERM RESIDENCY IN PRIVATE HOMES WITH FAMILIES IN HOOD RIVER AND WASCO COUNTIES. SERVICES TO YOUNGER CHILDREN ARE PROVIDED BY COMMUNITY ATTENTION HOME. THIS IS AN EVALUATION PROGRAM FOR YOUNGER YOUTH AT RISK OF ENTERING THE RESIDENTIAL TREATMENT SYSTEM. THE PROGRAM PROVIDES SHELTER CARE, COMPREHENSIVE EVALUATIONS, SHORT-TERM MENTAL HEALTH SERVICES, TRANSITIONAL SUPPORT, COUNSELING AND SUPPORT SERVICES IN THE MID-COLUMBIA AREA. FOSTER HOME PLACEMENTS IN THE DALLES AND HOOD RIVER ALSO ARE PART OF THE SERVICES OFFERED, WITH SPECIALIZED TRAINING AND SUPPORT FOR FOSTER PARENTS. YOUTH STAY IN THE PROGRAM AN AVERAGE OF EIGHT MONTHS.ADDITIONAL PROGRAMS IN TREATMENT SERVICES INCLUDE: OUTPATIENT BEHAVIORAL HEALTH, FOSTER PARENT TRAINING, FAMILIES SUPPORT AND TREATMENT SERVICES, IN-HOME SAFETY AND REUNIFICATION SERVICES, AND NURTURING VISITATIONS. OUTPATIENT BEHAVIORAL HEALTH, ALSO CALLED COUNSELING SERVICES, PROVIDES INDIVIDUAL AND FAMILY THERAPY SERVICES, CASE MANAGEMENT, SKILLS TRAINING AND SUBSTANCE ABUSE SO THAT PEOPLE ON MEDICAID CAN HAVE ACCESS TO MENTAL AND BEHAVIORAL HEALTH SERVICES. FOSTER PARENT TRAINING IS A TRAUMA-INFORMED COUNSELING PROGRAM FOR FAMILY FOSTER CARE PROVIDERS.
YOUTH AND IN-HOME SERVICES - PROGRAMS HOUSED IN YOUTH AND IN-HOME SERVICES OFFER A VARIETY OF OUTREACH AND PREVENTION SERVICES INCLUDING: GORGE YOUTH MENTORING, INDEPENDENT LIVING, OREGON TRAIL TRANSITIONAL HOUSING, VICTIMS OF CRIME ACT (VOCA), YOUTH OUTREACH WORKER, BRIDGES TO HEALTH, SUMMER YOUTH EMPLOYMENT PROGRAM, FAMILY SUPPORT AND CONNECTIONS, STRENGTHEN, PRESERVING & REUNIFYING FAMILIES, IN-HOME SAFETY AND REUNIFICATION SERVICES, AND NURTURING VISITATIONS. GORGE YOUTH MENTORING OFFERS ONE-TO-ONE MENTORING RELATIONSHIPS FOR YOUTH RANGING FROM AGES 6 TO 20. A COMMUNITY-BASED VOLUNTEER MENTORING PROGRAM, GORGE YOUTH MENTORING SEEKS TO INCREASE SCHOOL ACHIEVEMENT AND DECREASE SUBSTANCE ABUSE AND VIOLENCE AMONGST AT-RISK YOUTH. THE NEXT DOOR'S INDEPENDENT LIVING PROGRAM TEACHES LIFE SKILLS TO YOUTH WHO ARE AGING OUT OF THE FOSTER CARE SYSTEM. OREGON TRAIL IS A PARTNERSHIP WITH COLUMBIA CASCADE HOUSING CORPORATION, AND OFFERS TRANSITIONAL HOUSING IN A SAFE, DRUG-FREE ENVIRONMENT FOR FORMERLY HOMELESS TEENS AND YOUNG ADULTS (AGES 17 TO 23). VOCA OFFERS CASE MANAGEMENT AND SUPPORT SERVICES TO TEENS WHO ARE VICTIMS OF CRIME. IN PARTNERSHIP WITH THE HOOD RIVER PREVENTION DEPARTMENT, THE NEXT DOOR PROVIDES A YOUTH OUTREACH WORKER AT HOOD RIVER VALLEY HIGH SCHOOL. THE GOAL IS TO CONNECT KIDS WITH THE COMMUNITY RESOURCES THEY NEED TO BE SUCCESSFUL. BRIDGES TO HEALTH IS ANOTHER PARTNERSHIP, BUT WITH THE COLUMBIA GORGE HEALTH COUNCIL. BRIDGES TO HEALTH PROVIDES COMMUNITY CARE COORDINATORS TO CONNECT WITH COMMUNITY RESIDENTS, PROVIDING THEM WITH CONNECTIONS TO RESOURCES NEEDED TO BE HEALTHY AND SUCCESSFUL. THE SUMMER YOUTH EMPLOYMENT PROGRAM (SYEP) IS A PARTNERSHIP WITH THE OREGON YOUTH CONSERVATION CORPS AND THE U.S. FOREST SERVICE. IT PROVIDES SHORT-TERM EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITIES FOR YOUNG ADULTS WITH LITTLE OR NO WORK EXPERIENCE IN HOOD RIVER AND WASCO COUNTIES.ADDITIONALLY, YOUTH AND IN-HOME SERVICES HOUSES THE FAMILY SUPPORT AND CONNECTIONS, FORMERLY UNDER FAMILY SERVICES. FAMILY SUPPORT AND CONNECTIONS IS AN OREGON DEPARTMENT OF HUMAN SERVICES FUNDED HOME VISITING PROGRAM WITH THE GOAL OF KEEPING HIGH-RISK FAMILIES OUT OF THE CHILD WELFARE SYSTEM. STRENGTHENING, PRESERVING & REUNIFYING FAMILIES PROVIDES INTENSIVE SERVICES FOR FAMILIES WORKING WITH THE CHILD WELFARE SYSTEM. IN-HOME SAFETY AND REUNIFICATION SERVICES HELP STABILIZE FAMILIES IN CRISIS AND KEEP CHILDREN OUT OF FOSTER CARE. NURTURING VISITATIONS OFFERS COUNSELING DURING VISITATIONS FOR FAMILIES IN THE CHILD WELFARE SYSTEMS WITH THE GOAL OF HELPING FAMILIES REUNIFY AS QUICKLY AS POSSIBLE.ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT - PROMOVIENDO PROSPERIDAD (PROMOTING PROSPERITY) ASSISTS LATINE ENTREPRENEURS AND SMALL BUSINESS OWNERS WITH OPENING OR EXPANDING THEIR BUSINESS. ASSISTANCE INCLUDES HELPING THEM BUILD CREDIT THROUGH PARTICIPATION IN ONE OF OUR LENDING CIRCLES, APPLYING FOR LOANS OR DEVELOPING A BUSINESS PLAN AND OBTAINING AN INDIVIDUAL DEVELOPMENT ACCOUNT (IDA) IN PARTNERSHIP WITH CASA OF OREGON. INCLUDED IN THIS PROGRAM IS THE RACES (ROOTS) COMMUNITY GARDEN AND GREENHOUSE, WHICH ASSISTS LOCAL FARMERS IN GROWING AND SELLING THEIR PRODUCE AT LOCAL FARMERS MARKETS. EQUITY & OUTREACH TRAINING SERVICES - PROGRAMS UNDER OUR FEE-FOR-SERVICES PROGRAM AREA INCLUDE: DIVERSITY EQUITY AND INCLUSION WORKSHOPS, FOCUS GROUP FACILITATION AND RESEARCH, AND LANGUAGE SUPPORT. DIVERSITY AND EQUITY TRAINING OFFERS WORKSHOPS ON TOPICS OF DIVERSITY AND MORE WITH POPULAR EDUCATION METHODS. FOCUS GROUP FACILITATION AND RESEARCH OFFERS SUPPORT IN PLANNING, RECRUITMENT AND FACILITATION OF FOCUS GROUPS FOR THE LATINE COMMUNITY; AND FINALLY, LANGUAGE SUPPORT OFFERS SPANISH INTERPRETATION AND PLAIN LANGUAGE TRAINING FOR COMMUNITY PARTNERS AND ORGANIZATIONS.
FAMILY SERVICES - THE NEXT DOOR IS THE LOCAL ACCREDITED PROVIDER OF THE NATIONAL HEALTHY FAMILIES OF AMERICA PROGRAM. HEALTHY FAMILIES IS A HOME VISITING PROGRAM THAT PROVIDES EDUCATION AND SUPPORT TO HIGHER-RISK NEW PARENTS IN HOOD RIVER, WASCO, SHERMAN, GILLIAM AND WHEELER COUNTIES. IT IS A NATIONWIDE PROGRAM WITH PROVEN SUCCESS IN PREVENTING CHILD ABUSE AND NEGLECT. ALSO INCLUDED IN THIS DEPARTMENT IS DOLLY PARTON'S IMAGINATION LIBRARY, WHICH PROVIDES BOOKS ONCE A MONTH TO CHILDREN 0-5 YEARS THROUGHOUT A FOUR COUNTY REGION IN OREGON.
