GOLF TOURNAMENTS SERVE TO STIMULATE THE GENERAL PUBLIC'S INTEREST IN GOLF THROUGH PARTICIPATION IN PRO-AM EVENTS AND OBSERVATION OF PROFESSIONAL EVENTS. OTHER ACTIVITIES AND SERVICES OF THE ORGANIZATION HELP TO ELEVATE STANDARDS OF THE SPORT AS A PROFESSION. EACH OF SECTION'S FIVE CHAPTERS HOSTED NUMEROUS TOURNAMENTS. APPROXIMATELY 675 PROFESSIONALS AND 2,500 AMATEURS PARTICIPATED IN A TOTAL OF 226 EVENTS ORGANIZED BY SECTION AND ITS CHAPTERS.
CONTINUING EDUCATION OF PGA MEMBERS. PGA MEMBERS ARE REQUIRED TO EARN 54 MEMBER SERVICE REQUIREMENT (MSR) CREDITS IN A THREE-YEAR CYCLE. MEMBERS EARN MSR CREDITS BY ATTENDING CHAPTER MEETINGS OR EDUCATION SEMINARS AND WORKSHOPS.
