EDUCATION AND MEETINGS: THE ASSOCIATION SPONSORS CLASSES, CONVENTIONS AND MEETINGS AT WHICH MEMBERS CAN EXCHANGE INFORMATION AND ATTEND COURSES, MEETING THE REQUIREMENTS FOR LICENSURE.
COMMUNICATIONS: THE ORGANIZATION PRODUCES AND PERIODICALLY DISTRIBUTES ELECTRONIC MEMBERSHIP UPDATES CONTAINING MEMBER FEATURES, CURRENT RESEARCH AND CLINICAL TECHNIQUES. THE E-DISTRIBUTION AND ADDITIONAL RESOURCES ARE DELIVERED TO ALL MEMBERS AND IS ALSO AVAILABLE TO MEMBERS ONLINE THROUGH THE ASSOCIATION'S WEBSITE. THE ORGANIZATION ALSO PROVIDES WIDESPREAD PUBLIC EDUCATION ON THE NEED FOR REGULAR EYE EXAMS AND SERVICES THAT DOCTORS OF OPTOMETRY CAN PROVIDE, LOANS OF LOW VISION EQUIPMENT, AND PROVIDES VISION INFORMATION DISPLAYS FOR MEMBERS TO USE FOR PRESENTATIONS.
THE ORGANIZATION, STAFF, AND VOLUNTEERS RESEARCH AND MONITOR LEGISLATIVE, ADMINISTRATIVE, AND POLITICAL DEVELOPMENTS THAT AFFECT POSITIVELY OR NEGATIVELY ON OREGON EYE HEALTH. PRIMARILY, PATIENT SAFETY AND CLINICAL ISSUES, AS WELL AS THIRD PARTY IMPACT ON THE ABILITY OF MEMBERS TO PRACTICE THE PROFESSION OF OPTOMETRY TO THE HIGHEST CLINICAL STANDARDS AND BREADTH OF THEIR LICENSURE. STAFF AND VOLUNTEERS WORK WITH PAID LOBBYISTS TO EDUCATE LEGISLATORS AND REGULATORS ON THE IMPORTANCE OF IN PERSON COMPREHENSIVE EYE EXAMS AND TOTAL EYE HEALTH CARE.
