Describe the Organization's Mission:
Part 3 - Line 1
REBUILD DEMOCRACY (RD) WORKS TO DISMANTLE THE CORRUPTION THAT UNDERMINES DEMOCRACY, ENVIRONMENTAL STEWARDSHIP, AND ECONOMIC SECURITY IN THE UNITED STATES. WE ADVANCE THIS WORK BY SUPPORTING CANDIDATES AND IMPORTANT REFORM/S, LEADING RESEARCH AND ADVOCACY ON PUBLIC POLICY AND MESSAGING, AND DEVELOPING FUTURE TALENT TO STAFF PUBLIC INSTITUTIONS. DESPITE THE COUNTRY'S PROFOUND HISTORIC INJUSTICES, EARLIER GENERATIONS OF AMERICANS WERE ABLE TO MAKE PROGRESS IN VITALLY IMPORTANT AREAS: BUILDING AND MAINTAINING DEMOCRATIC INSTITUTIONS THAT COUNTERED CORRUPTION, REDUCED POVERTY AND INEQUALITY, ADVANCED CIVIL RIGHTS AND LIBERTIES, SAFEGUARDED ENVIRONMENTAL QUALITY, AND SUPPORTED COMMON NATIONAL INTERESTS. IN RECENT DECADES, MUCH OF THIS PROGRESS HAS CEASED OR GONE INTO REVERSE. WE SEEK TO REBUILD-AND IMPROVE-THESE VITAL SAFEGUARDS FOR THE PUBLIC GOOD.
Describe the Organization's Program Activity:
Part 3 - Line 4a
RESEARCH PROGRAM: REBUILD DEMOCRACY CONDUCTED A NATIONAL TAXONOMIC SURVEY WITH LAKE RESEARCH PARTNERS TO CREATE A TYPOLOGY OF AMERICA'S 'DIVIDES OF DISTRUST'. THE SURVEY COVERED 1,000 REGISTERED VOTERS NATIONWIDE, INCLUDING OVER-SAMPLES OF 300 YOUNG VOTERS NATIONWIDE & 300 INDEPENDENT VOTERS ACROSS ARIZONA, GEORGIA, MICHIGAN, NEVADA, NORTH CAROLINA, PENNSYLVANIA, AND WISCONSIN. THE SURVEY MEASURED MULTIPLE DIMENSIONS OF TRUST - INCLUDING INTERPERSONAL, ORGANIZATIONAL, AND IDEOLOGICAL TRUST ACROSS GENDER AND RACE - AND EXPLORED HOW THESE ARE CORRELATED WITH POLITICAL ATTITUDES AND INTEREST IN POLITICAL PARTICIPATION. THIS RESEARCH HAS BROKEN GROUND BY EXAMINING NEW DIMENSIONS OF TRUST THAT EMERGE OUT OF A COMPREHENSIVE REASSESSMENT OF PEOPLE'S TRUST AND ALIENATION IN MANY DIFFERENT ARENAS.
