FORAKER PROVIDES FISCAL SPONSORSHIP TO NEW PROGRAMS THAT ARE IN THE PRELIMINARY STAGES OF THEIR DEVELOPMENT. THE SERVICES ARE INTENDED TO PROVIDE AN OPPORTUNITY TO INCUBATE PROGRAMS THAT ARE SHORT-TERM AND/OR WILL EVENUTALLY BECOME THEIR OWN 501(C) ORGANIZATION.
THE FORAKER SHARED FINANCIAL SERVICES SERVES OVER 80 NONPROFITS RANGING BETWEEN $100,000 - $5,000,000 WITH ACCOUNTING AND BOOKKEEPING SERVICES. THE SERVICES PROVIDED INCLUDE PAYROLL PROCESSING, CASH DISBURSEMENTS, GRANT REPORTING, FINANCIAL STATEMENT PREPARATION AND AUDIT PREPARATION.
WHEN THE COVID-19 CRISIS EMERGED IN MARCH, THE FORAKER GROUP REACTED IMMEDIATELY TO HELP NONPROFITS ACROSS ALASKA PREPARE FOR, RESPOND TO, AND RECOVER FROM THE IMPACTS OF THE PANDEMIC. IN PARTICULAR, WE QUICKLY GATHERED AND DISSEMINATED INFORMATION RELATING TO THE THINGS NONPROFITS NEEDED TO KNOW ABOUT THE PANDEMIC, LIKE HOW TO ACCESS AND TRACK RELIEF FUNDING AND HOW TO MANAGE STAFF AND HR ISSUES DURING A PANDEMIC. WE STOPPED OTHER WORK WE WERE DOING TO ADVOCATE FOR THE INCLUSION OF NONPROFITS IN RELIEF FUNDING, PROGRAMS AT THE LOCAL, STATE AND NATIONAL LEVELS. WE ESTABLISHED NEW SERVICES FOR NONPROFITS, SUCH AS GRANT WRITING. AND WE COUNSELED MANY NONPROFITS AND BOARDS ABOUT HEALTHY NEXT STEPS IN THESE UNCERTAIN TIMES.
