SALMON PEOPLE PROJECT: CSSP HAS EMBARKED ON A JOURNEY TO TELL THE STORY OF THE ANCIENT BOND BETWEEN THE NATIVE PEOPLE AND SALMON. WE ARE BUILDING AWARENESS OF HOW THIS DISCONNECT HAS LED TO BROKEN TREATY PROMISES AND A DEVASTATING LOSS TO NATIVE AMERICANS. THIS IS A MULTIFACETED EFFORT OF RESEARCH, GATHERINGS, AND A DOCUMENTARY SERIES THAT WILL HELP ACCELERATE THE WORK OF NATIVE-LED MOVEMENTS BY HIGHLIGHTING TRIBAL COMMUNITIES WITH THEIR HISTORY, CULTURE AND VALUES.
ACH: CHILDREN OF THE SETTING SUN WAS CONTRACTED TO PRODUCE A SET OF 10-15 VIDEOS THAT HIGHLIGHT SUCCESSFUL HEALTHCARE PROGRAMS IN TRIBAL COMMUNITIES IN THE NORTH SOUND REGION OF WASHINGTON STATE. THESE VIDEOS WILL BE SHARED WITH A NETWORK OF HEALTHCARE PROFESSIONALS TO CREATE A BETTER UNDERSTANDING OF HOW TO PROVIDE HEALTHCARE SERVICES TO TRIBAL MEMBERS MORE SUCCESSFULLY.
COMMUNITY STORIES: CSSP HOSTS OPPORTUNITIES FOR THE COMMUNITY TO COME TOGETHER TO SHARE STORIES, EDUCATE OTHERS AND INSPIRE CHANGE. 2021 COMMUNITY STORIES INCLUDED GATHERINGS AT ALDERWOOD SCHOOL TO UNVEIL A TOTEM POLE, A COMMUNITY-WIDE MOTHER EARTH DAY CELEBRATION, AND AN INDIGENOUS DAY FILM FESTIVAL.
