THE ALASKA REINSURANCE PROGRAM WAS FORMED TO ADD STABILITY TO THE INDIVIDUAL HEALTH INSURANCE MARKET IN ALASKA AND ENCOURAGE PARTICIPATION BY INSURERS IN THE INDIVIDUAL INSURANCE MARKET IN ALASKA BY PROVIDING A MECHANISM TO INSURERS ISSUING POLICIES IN THE INDIVIDUAL MARKET IN ALASKA THAT COVER HIGH RISK INDIVIDUALS.
