WOMEN IN SAFE HOMES (WISH) IS A NON-PROFIT ORGANIZATION DEDICATED TO PROVIDING ESSENTIAL SUPPORT SERVICES TO VICTIMS OF DOMESTIC VIOLENCE, SEXUAL ASSAULT, AND OTHER VIOLENT CRIMES. WISH IS LOCATED IN KETCHIKAN AND SERVES OVER 17 COMMUNITIES IN SOUTHERN SOUTHEAST ALASKA. THESE INCLUDE THE COMMUNITIES OF KETCHIKAN, SAXMAN, WRANGELL, PRINCE OF WALES ISLAND, METLAKATLA, AND HYDER. CURRENTLY, WISH HAS A 32-BED FACILITY THAT IS OPEN 7 SAYS A WEEK, 24 HOURS EACH DAY. SERVICES PROVIDED CROSS ALL RACIAL, ETHNIC, ECONOMIC, AND SOCIAL GROUPS. OUR CLIENTS RANGE IN AGE FROM INFANT TO THE ELDERLY WITH DIVERSE PSYCHOLOGICAL, EMOTIONAL, AND PHYSICAL ABILITIES/NEEDS. WISH ALSO ROUTINELY SERVES WOMEN IN VARIOUS STAGES OF PRENANCY. SHELTER SERVICES TO VICTIMS OF DOMESTIC VIOLENCE AND/OR SEXUAL ASSAULT AND THEIR FAMILIES. SERVICES INCLUDE EMERGENCY HOUSING AND TRANSPORTATION, 32 BED SHELTER, HOSPITAL RESPONSE, AND ASSISTANCE WITH REPORTING, YOUTH, CHILD, AND COMMUNITY PREVENTION PROGRAMS, 24 HOUR SUPPORT AND INFORMATION FOR VICTIMS AND SURVIVORS OF DOMESTIC VIOLENCE AND/OR SEXUAL ASSAULT, INDIVIDUAL ADVOCAY,A ND LEGAL ADVOCACY SERVICES.
FAMILY SERVICES WORKS WITH AT RISK FAMILIES BY PROVIDING COUNSELING, PARENT COACHING, PARENTING CLASSES AND ASSISTANCE WITH CONNECTING FAMILIES TO NECESSARY SERVICES.
