AWARE'S DV/SA SERVICES INCLUDE EMERGENCY SAFE SHELTER, 24 HOUR CRISIS LINE RESPONSE, IN PERSON AND REMOTE SAFETY PLANNING, LEGAL ADVOCACY AND COURT ACCOMPANIMENT, 24 HOUR HOSPITAL RESPONSE, CHILDREN'S ADVOCACY AND GROUPS, CHILD AND ADULT TRAUMA COUNSELING, TRANSITIONAL HOUSING, SUPPORT GROUPS FOR ADULTS AND A VARIETY OF HOUSING ADVOCACY AND PROGRAMS TO ENSURE LONG TERM STABILITY. AWARE PROVIDED 7,386 NIGHTS OF EMERGENCY SAFE SHELTER IN FY22, AND OVER 2,289 CONTACTS OF CRISIS INTERVENTION.
AWARE'S VIOLENCE PREVENTION PROGRAMS INCLUDE PRIMARY AND SECONDARY PREVENTION STRATEGIES ORGANIZED INTO PATHWAYS THAT INVOLVE THE COMMUNITY. AWARE FACILITATES THE HAA TOOCH LICHEESH COMMUNITY PREVENTION GROUP THAT IMPLEMENTS COMMUNITY-BASED STRATEGIES FOR RESILIENCE, HEALING AND WELLNESS. THESE STRATEGIES INCLUDE EQUITY-BASED LEARNING OPPORTUNITIES WITH INDIGENOUS HEALERS AND ELDERS, CULTURAL WELLNESS ACTIVITIES, YOUTH-FOCUS GROUPS FOCUSED ON DIVERSITY AND INCLUSION, AND PATHWAYS FOR MEN TO HOLD LEADERSHIP ROLES IN THE MOVEMENT TO END GENDER VIOLENCE.
AWARE'S JUNEAU CHOICE & ACCOUNTABILITY PROGRAM (JCAP) WORKS WITH MEN WHO HAVE USED ABUSIVE OR COERCIVE TACTICS WITH THEIR INTIMATE PARTNERS. MOST OF THE REFERRALS TO THE PROGRAM COME FROM THE COURT SYSTEM AFTER A DOMESTIC VIOLENCE CONVICTION, OR ARE PART OF RECOMMENDATIONS FROM A PROBATION OFFICER. THIS 24 WEEK PROGRAM INCLUDES APPLICABLE LESSONS ON COMMUNICATION, CONFLICT RESOLUTION, EMPATHY AND SKILL-BUILDING EXERCISES THAT EMPHASIZE EQUITY AND SAFETY.
