SOROPTIMIST INTERNATIONAL OF ANACORTES SIA IS AN ORGANIZATION OF WOMEN WORKING TO ADVANCE HUMAN RIGHTS AND THE STATUS OF WOMEN BY FUNDING COMMUNITY PROJECTS AND AWARDING SCHOLARSHIPS AND AWARDS.

SIA SUPPORTS COMMUNITY ORGANIZATIONS THAT ARE TAX EXEMPT BY MAKING DONATION TO THEM THROUGH OUR GRAN PROCEDURES AS WELL THROUGH OUT COMMITTEES OF SERVICE AND SPECIAL PROJECTS.


WE AWARDED 27 SCHOLARSHIPS THIS FISCAL YEAR. WE PARTNER WITH SKAGIT VALLEY COLLEGE TO AWARD $36,000 IN SCHOLARSHIPS TO INDIVIDUALS THAT ARE PURSUING VOCATIONAL AND TECHNICAL CAREERS AND MEET FINANCIAL NEED CRITERIA. THE BALANCE OF THE SCHOLARSHIPS ARE AWARDED BY THE CLUB USING OUTSIDE JUDGES TO REVIEW SCHOLARSHIP APPLICATIONS. ALL SCHOLARSHIPS ARE PAID DIRECTLY TO COLLEGES ON BEHALF OF THE CHOSEN APPLICANTS


SIA GRANTS AWARDS TO INDIVIDUALS USING THE SOROPTIMIST FEDERAL MODEL FOR LIVE YOUR DREAM COMMUNITY YOUTH VOLUNTEER WOMEN HELPING WOMEN AND WOMEN OF DISTINCTION. ALL APPLICANTS ARE SCREENED AND INTERVIEWED FOR THE AWARDS. THE LIVE YOUR DREAM AWARD IS GIVEN TO WOMEN WHO ARE RETURNING TO SCHOOL AND ARE THE SOLE SUPPORT OF THEIR FAMILY. THE AWARDS ARE BASED ON MERIT AND FINANCIAL NEED. WE GAVE OUT 7 AWARDS TO INDIVIDUALS THROUGH THE AWARDS COMMITTEE PROGRAM.
