SURVIVOR ADVOCACY: API CHAYA PROVIDES ADVOCACY-BASED COUNSELING, SUPPORT GROUPS, SAFE HOUSING ALTERNATIVES, HELPLINE, CRISIS INTERVENTION, LEGAL ADVOCACY AND A RESOURCE REFERRAL FOR SURVIVORS OF GENDER-BASED VIOLENCE, INCLUDING DOMESTIC VIOLENCE, SEXUAL ASSAULT AND HUMAN TRAFFICKING. IN 2021, API CHAYA PROVIDED CASE MANAGEMENT AND CLIENT ASSISTANCE TO 700 SURVIVORS AND THEIR FAMILIES OF DOMESTIC VIOLENCE, SEXUAL ASSAULT, HUMAN TRAFFICKING AND THEIR CHILDREN. WE CONTINUE TO BE PART OF THE COALITION ENDING GENDER-BASED VIOLENCE, WASHINGTON STATE COALITION AGAINST DOMESTIC VIOLENCE, WASHINGTON COALITION OF SEXUAL ASSAULT PROGRAMS, THE WASHINGTON ANTI-TRAFFICKING RESPONSE NETWORK AND THE FREEDOM NETWORK.
COMMUNITY ORGANIZING: API CHAYA ORGANIZES LEADERSHIP CONFERENCES, PARENTING CLASSES, AND CULTURALLY APPROPRIATE EDUCATION TO COMMUNITY GROUPS. WE ENGAGE THE COMMUNITY THROUGH HEALING EVENTS, TRAININGS, CONFERENCES, PARENTING CLASSES, AND IN ROBUST VIOLENCE PREVENTION EFFORTS. IN 2021, API CHAYA COMMUNITY ORGANIZERS PARTNERED WITH OVER 100 ORGANIZATIONS TO PRODUCE MORE THAN 450 LOCAL EVENTS TO INSPIRE SOCIAL CHANGE AND INCREASE THE SKILLS WITHIN OUR COMMUNITIES TO CREATE CONDITIONS OF SAFETY AND HEALING. THROUGH WORKSHOPS AND MEDIA, API CHAYA REACHED MORE THAN 12,000 INDIVIDUALS.
