TO IDENTIFY, COLLECT, DOCUMENT AND PRESERVE OBJECTS OF RELEVANCY AND TO PROVIDE INFORMATION REFLECTING THE UNIQUE CULTURAL HISTORY OF SKAGIT COUNTY, WASHINGTON.

PUBLICATIONS & RESEARCH: OUR ARCHIVIST CONTINUED TO PROVIDE RESEARCH SERVICES TO BOTH PUBLIC AND PRIVATE PARTIES. OUR PUBLICATIONS COMMITTEE CONTINUED TO EDIT AND REFINE THE BOOK "STERNWHEELER TOWN" WHICH WAS WRITTEN AND DONATED TO THE HISTORICAL SOCIETY BY ITS AUTHOR, DR. THOMAS ROBINSON. STAFF BEGAN RESEARCHING AND WRITING A NEW BOOK, "LOST CITIES OF SKAGIT: REDISCOVERING PLACES OF OUR PAST".


MAJOR ACCOMPLISHMENTS INCLUDED DEVELOPING AND PRESENTING TWO ORIGINAL FEATURED EXHIBITS: "JESUS GUILLEN: AN ARTISTIC LEGACY OF LOVE & COURAGE AND "HUGO HELMER: SKAGIT'S OWN MUSIC MAN", AND TWO MINOR EXHIBITS: "KITCHEN GADGETS: ARTICLES REQUIRED FOR THE KITCHEN AND "A PENNY SAVED IS A PENNY EARNED". THE EXHIBIT ON JESUS GUILLEN EARNED THE WASHINGTON MUSEUM ASSOCIATION'S EXCELLENCE IN EXHIBITIONS AWARD.


CONTINUED TO INVENTORY OFF-SITE AND ON-SITE STORAGE AREAS, RESEARCHING THOSE ITEMS AND COLLECTIONS IN PREPARATION FOR ENTERING THEM INTO THE INVENTORY DATABASE. ACCEPTED A NUMBER OF NEW ITEMS INTO THE COLLECTIONS, INCLUDED AN EXTENSIVE COLLECTION ON SAMISH ISLAND SHELLFISH INDUSTRY.
