THE ECONOMIC ALLIANCE PROMOTES AND COORDINATES ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT ACTIVITIES IN OKANOGAN COUNTY. DURING THE PAST YEAR WE HAVE PROVIDED COUNSELING SERVICES THROUGH THE SMALL BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT CENTER TO OVER 100 ACTIVE CLIENTS WITH 12 NEW BUSINESS STARTUPS. THESE CLIENTS WERE ABLE TO EITHER CREATE OR RETAIN 83 JOBS IN OKANOGAN COUNTY. THE ECONOMIC ALLIANCE ALSO HELPED TO COORDINATE FORUMS AND INFORMATIONAL MEETINGS WITH ORGANIZATIONS, WHICH HELPS TO EDUCATE AND INFORM THE BUSINESS COMMUNITY. THE ECONOMIC ALLIANCE IS ALSO THE SMALL BUSINESS RESOURCE AND TECHNOLOGY CENTER, WHICH ALLOWS BUSINESSES ACCESS TO TECHNOLOGY NEEDED TO HELP THEM DEVELOP OR EXPAND INTO THE ONLINE MARKETPLACE. THE ECONOMIC ALLIANCE ALSO PROVIDES A HOME-BASE AND CLERICAL SUPPORT FOR THE OKANOGAN COUNTY TOURISM COUNCIL, WHICH HELPS TO SUPPORT THE TOURISM INDUSTRY IN OKANOGAN COUNTY. ECONOMIC ALLIANCE'S EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR SERVED AS BOARD MEMBER ON THE NCW ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT DISTRICT, FAMILY HEALTH CENTERS, AND NCW WORKFORCE DEVELOPMENT COUNCIL. OVER THE PAST YEAR, WE HAVE ALSO CONTINUED TO WORK WITH POSSIBLE NEW BUSINESS LOCATIONS TO OKANOGAN COUNTY AND RESPONDED TO LEADS RECEIVED FROM THE STATE. THE ECONOMIC ALLIANCE HAS ALSO PROVIDED INFORMATION TO COMPANIES LOOKING TO MOVE OR EXPAND TO OUR AREA AND PROVIDE THEM WITH DEMOGRAPHIC INFORMATION INCLUDING POPULATION, MAJOR EMPLOYERS, WORK FORCE, UTILITIES AND FACILITIES.
