STORY THROUGH SELF-GUIDED HISTORICAL WALKING TRAILS.ANGELS WALK LA IS DEVOTED TO ENHANCING THE PEDESTRIAN ENVIRONMENTS OF LOS ANGELES BY DEVELOPING SELF-GUIDED WALKING TRAILS THAT COMMEMORATE THE HISTORY, ARCHITECTURE AND CULTURE OF LOS ANGELES NEIGHBORHOODS. ANGELS WALK ENCOURAGES PEDESTRIANS TO DISCOVER AND EXPLORE LOS ANGELES BY CONNECTING DIRECTLY WITH MAJOR TRANSIT AND RAIL LINES.ORGANIZATIONAL ACCOMPLISHMENTS: THE ANGELS WALK LA WEBSITE CONTINUED TO BE MAINTAINED AND POPULATED WITH NEW INFORMATION FOR THE CENTRAL AVENUE WALK. THE ANGELS WALK LA INSTAGRAM CONTINUED TO FACILITATE CONNECTION WITH THE LOCAL COMMUNITY AND LIKE-MINDED INDIVIDUALS AND GROUPS, AND KEEP FOLLOWERS ABREAST OF NEW ACTIVITIES WITHIN THE ORGANIZATION AS WELL AS TO EDUCATE ABOUT THE HISTORY OF LOS ANGELES. ONGOING RESEARCH WAS DONE TO DETERMINE THE FEASIBILITY OF AN ANGELS WALK MOBILE APP, AND ONGOING EFFORTS WERE PURSUED TO DEVELOP A PATHWAY FOR REPAIR/REFURBISHMENT OF OLDER STANCHIONS.

ANGELS WALK CENTRAL AVENUE: THIS IMPORTANT AND TIMELY WALK GUIDES VISITORS THROUGH THE HISTORIC CENTRAL AVENUE CORRIDOR FROM E. 24TH STREET TO VERNON AVENUE AND HIGHLIGHTS THE PEOPLE, PLACES, MOVEMENTS, AND EVENTS THAT SHAPED THIS VIBRANT NEIGHBORHOOD. ANGELS WALK CENTRAL AVENUE WAS COMPLETED IN 2020; HOWEVER, THERE WERE ONGOING TASKS RELATED TO THE PROJECT THAT CONTINUED INTO 2021, INCLUDING ADMINISTRATIVE ACTIVITIES, GUIDEBOOK DISTRIBUTION, WEBSITE UPDATES, AND OVERSEEING INSTALLATION OF THE 15 ON-STREET STANCHIONS. THE HIGHLIGHT OF THE YEAR WAS ATTENDING AND PRESENTING AT THE WALK'S OFFICIAL RIBBON CUTTING CEREMONY, WHICH WAS HOSTED BY THE NEW 9TH COUNCIL OFFICE OF CURREN D. PRICE, JR. MULTIPLE NEWS AGENCIES AND PUBLICATIONS COVERED THE EVENT RESULTING IN VERY POSITIVE PRESS FOR THE WALK AND FOR ANGELS WALK LA.
WALKS COMPLETED 2017-2020: ONGOING DISTRIBUTION OF GUIDEBOOKS FOR OUR HIGHLAND PARK, CRENSHAW, EAST HOLLYWOOD/SILVER LAKE, AND BOYLE HEIGHTS WALKS CONTINUED TO LOCAL BUSINESSES, ORGANIZATIONS,AND STAKEHOLDERS ON AN AS-NEEDED/AS-REQUESTED BASIS.
BUNKER HILL STANCHION REFURBISHMENT: ANGELS WALK LA PARTNERED WITH BROOKFIELD PROPERTIES TO BRING THREE STANCHIONS BACK TO LIFE - TWO FROM OUR ORIGINAL BUNKER HILL WALK, WHICH WAS COMPLETED IN 1999 AND ONE FROM ANGELS WALK FIGUEROA, WHICH WAS COMPLETED IN 2007. THE GRAND AVENUE AND BUNKER HILL STANCHIONS HAD BEEN SEVERELY FADED AND VANDALIZED OVER TIME AND BOTH RECEIVED UPDATES TO THE NARRATIVE AND HISTORICAL PHOTOGRAPHY, AND NEW VINYL GRAPHICS WERE OUTPUT AND APPLIED TO THE STANCHION BASES. THE LOCATION OF THESE STANCHIONS IS ADJACENT TO THE WELLS FARGO TOWER IN DOWNTOWN LOS ANGELES, WHICH BORDERS BOTH HOPE AND FLOWER STREETS - LOCATIONS THAT RECEIVE A HIGH NUMBER OF DAILY PEDESTRIAN PASSERSBY. THE FIGUEROA STANCHION ALSO RECEIVED UPDATES TO THE NARRATIVE AND IMAGERY, AND IS PROMINENTLY LOCATED OUTSIDE OF THE FIG@7TH MALL.
