YMCA ALUMNI MAINTAINS THE WORLD BROTHERHOOD FUND TO PROVIDE ASSISTANCE TO YMCA RETIREES WORLDWIDE.THE VARIOUS CHAPTER OF THE YMCA ALUMNI AS WELL AS THE NATIONAL ORGANIZATION CONTINUED TO SUPPORT DOMESTIC CAUSES, AS WELL AS INCLUDING THE SIOUX YMCA AND THE EMERGENCY ASSISTANCE FUND, WHICH PROVIDES SUPPORT TO YMCA STAFF AND RETIREES IN THE UNITED STATE.
NEWSLETTERS- THE YMCA ALUMNI (YA) AND ITS CHAPTERS PUBLISH NEWSLETTERS DURING THE COURSE OF THE YEAR. YA ISSUES PRINTED AND ELECTRONIC VERSIONS. ADDITIONALLY, CHAPTERS AND PROGRAMS ISSUE PERIODIC NEWSLETTERS HIGHLIGHTING EVENTS THEY SPONSOR OR ATTEND, ACTIVITIES, PEOPLE NEWS AND STORIES AS WELL AS CONTENT ABOUT YMCA RELATED CAUSES (YMCA OF THE USA, YMCA RETIREMENT FUND, YMCA WORLD SERVICE, EMERGENCY ASSISTANCE FUND, YMCA PROFESSIONAL NETWORK, AND LOCAL YMCA CHARITABLE PROGRAMS.) FUNDS COLLECTED BY YA AND THE CHAPTERS ARE SENT TO THE APPROPRIATE ORGANIZATION. THE NEWSLETTERS MAINTAIN THE CONNECTION BETWEEN RETIRED PERSONNEL, EACH OTHER, THEIR CHAPTERS, THE NATIONAL YA PROGRAMS AND OTHER YMCA PROGRAMS. NEWSLETTER STATISTICS INCLUDE "THE CONNECTION" (YA NEWSLETTER) APPROXIMATELY 1400 COPIES, PRINTED 4 TIMES A YEAR, 1400 ELECTRONIC COPIES 8 TIMES A YEAR. "BRIDGES" THE NEWSLETTER FOR THE WORLDWIDE MEMBERSHIP PUBLISHED 4 TIMES A YEAR AND 17 CHAPTER NEWSLETTER ARE PUBLISHED PERIODICALLY. THESE FORMS OF COMMUNICATION HELP KEEP PEOPLE CONNECTED.
CHAPTER PROGRAMS- THE 17 CHAPTERS CONVENE AT VARIOUS TIMES DURING THE YEAR. FREQUENTLY THESE MEETINGS INCLUDE SPEAKERS, MEALS, ENTERTAINMENT, TOURS OF INTERESTING HISTORICAL AND/OR EDUCATIONAL PLACES. REGISTRATION FEES, IF ANY, ARE COLLECTED AND COSTS OF THESE PROGRAMS ARE DISPERSED BY THE CHAPTERS. PARTICIPANTS RENEW FRIENDSHIPS THAT AROSE FROM THEIR YEARS OF SERVICE TO YMCAS THROUGHOUT THE US. IN ADDITION, THEY LEARN OF NEW WAYS TO SERVE OTHERS AND RENEW THE YMCA SPIRIT GAINED FROM THEIR CAREERS FROM WHICH THEY HAVE RETIRED. WITH THE EASING OF COVID RESTRICTIONS THE CHAPTERS BEGAN MEETING AGAIN IN PERSON.
EXPENSES TO SUPPORT THE PROVIDING OF PROGRAMS AND SERVICES ARE TAKEN ON BY BOTH THE NATIONAL ORGANIZATION AND THE CHAPTERS.
