TO ENHANCE EDUCATIONAL OPPORTUNITIES AND EDUCATIONAL EXCELLENCE FOR STUDENTS OF THE NORTH THURSTON PUBLIC SCHOOLS (NTPS).

SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM AWARDS ARE MADE YEARLY TO HIGH SCHOOL GRADUATES TO FURTHER THEIR EDUCATION IN COLLEGES, UNIVERSITIES OR OTHER POST-SECONDARY INSTITUTIONS. 53 SCHOLARSHIPS WERE AWARDED IN 2022, WITH ELEVEN RENEWALS FOR MULTI-YEAR SCHOLARSHIPS. TOTAL: 133,138.


GRANTS MADE TO SCHOOLS IN THE NORTH THURSTON PUBLIC SCHOOLS TO BE USED FOR NEEDY STUDENTS TO ASSIST IN MEETING SCHOOL REQUIREMENTS AND SOME PERSONAL NEEDS INCIDENTAL TO THEIR OBTAINING AN EDUCATION. GRANTS CONTINUE TO INCLUDE RENT/UTILITIES, FOOD AND TOILETRY CLOSETS IN MIDDLE AND HIGH SCHOOLS TO PROVIDE FOOOS AND OTHER ITEMS FOR HOMELESS STUDENTS AND OTHERS IN NEED. APPROXIMATELY 3,750 STUDENTS RECEIVED ASSISTANCE. TOTAL EXPENDED: 407,624 THROUGH THESE GRANTS.


LEARNING IMPROVEMENT GRANTS TO EDUCATORS TO ENCOURAGE INSTRUCTIONAL INNOVATION AND IMPROVEMENT IN STUDENT LEARNING. THIRTEEN GRANTS FOR VARYING AMOUNTS UP TO 1,500 EACH WERE AWARDED IN 2022. APPROXIMATELY 1,250 STUDENTS WERE SERVED BY THE LEARNING GRANTS. A TOTAL OF 14,875 WAS EXPENDED IN 2022.


OTHER PROGRAM SERVICES INCLUDE THE FOLLOWING: THE GRANT PROGRAM HAS BEEN EXPANDED TO INCLUDE GRANTS TO EXTERNAL ORGANIZATIONS SERVING NORTH THURSTON STUDENTS INCLUDING THE LACEY BOYS AND GIRLS CLUB AFTERSCHOOL ENRICHMENT, LITTLE RED SCHOOLHOUSE FOR STUDENT INCIDENTALS, YMCA POWER SCHOLARS, LACEY LOVES TO READ FOR READING PROGRAM, GRUB, TOGETHER FOR HOST HOMES AND AFTER SCHOOL PROGRAMS AND ST. MARK LUTHERAN CHURCH CLEAN KIDS PROGRAM TOTALING: 85,700. GRANTS WERE MADE FOR ACADEMIC TUTORING SUPPORT TO QUALIFIED STUDENTS IN ACHIEVING THEIR EDUCATIONAL GOALS TOTALING: 1,231. GRANTS WERE MADE FOR GRADUATING SENIORS TO PROVIDE THEM WITH THEIR CAP/GOWN AND YEARK BOOK TOTALING 7,029
