SUMMER CAMP WORKSHOPS: THREE 2-WEEK WORKSHOPS WERE HELD FROM JUNE TO AUGUST 2021, BENEFITTING OVER 100 YOUTH AGES 4 TO 18. THESE WORKSHOPS REQUIRED THE HELP OF PRODUCTION STAFF AND VOLUNTEERS. EACH WORKSHOP OFFERED STUDENTS AN OPPORTUNITY TO LEARN, CREATE AND GROW - NOT JUST IN THEATRE, BUT ALSO IN VISUAL ARTS, WRITING, PUBLIC SPEAKING, AND TEAMWORK. CURRICULUM INTEGRATES HANDS-ON LEARNING EXPERIENCES IN SET DESIGN AND CONSTRUCTION, LIGHTING AND SOUND SCIENCE, THEATER MANAGEMENT, MARKETING, AND RELATED TECHNICAL FIELDS. WORKSHOPS ALSO OFFERED COLLEGE STUDENTS AN EARNED INCOME, TO CULTIVATE A NEW GENERATION OF LEADERSHIP IN THE PERFORMING ARTS. THIS PROGRAM ALSO OFFERED SCHOLARSHIPS IN THE FORM OF DISCOUNTS TO PARTICIPANTS WHO REQUESTED FINANCIAL AID.
MAIN STAGE SHOWS: ONE MUSICAL THEATRE PRODUCTION WAS PRESENTED AT THE ADMIRAL THEATRE IN BREMERTON, AS A COLLABORATION WITH SEVERAL OTHER KITSAP COUNTY COMMUNITY THEATRE ORGANIZATIONS. ACTORS AND ACTRESSES FROM CSTOCK PARTICIPATED IN THIS PRODUCTION, AS WELL AS VOLUNTEERS HELPING BACKSTAGE WITH LIGHTING, SOUND, COSTUMES, AND SET DESIGN. A SECOND MUSICAL THEATRE PRODUCTION WAS APPROVED FOR EARLY 2022, WHICH WOULD INCLUDE OVER 100 VOLUNTEER CAST AND CREW, REHEARSING FOR A SHOW THAT WAS PREVIOUSLY CANCELLED DUE TO THE PANDEMIC. THROUGHOUT THIS TIME, OUR CORE FOCUS HAS REMAINED STREANGTHENING INTERGENERATIONAL BONDS ON-STAGE AND OFF-STAGE WHILE BUILDING CONFIDENCE, SKILLS AND VALUES IN LOCAL YOUTH.
THEATRE ACADEMY WORKSHOPS: ONE VIRTUAL AFTER-SCHOOL PROGRAM BENEFITTED 20 YOUTH, PRODUCTION STAFF AND VOLUNTEERS. THIS WORKSHOP OFFERED A VIRTUAL PERFORMING ARTS OPPORTUNITY FOR LOCAL STUDENTS DURING THE SCHOOL YEAR, WHOSE VARIOUS AFTER-SCHOOL PROGRAMS WERE CANCELLED DUE TO THE PANDEMIC.
CAPITAL CAMPAIGN: DESIGN FOR A NEW COMMUNITY THEATRE WITH CIRCUIT OF THE NORTHWEST AND PORT OF BREMERTON CONTINUED AT OUR NEW LOCATION IN BREMERTON, WA, THROUGHOUT 2021. BECAUSE THE PROJECT MOVED LOCATIONS AND PARTNERSHIPS CHANGED, KITAP COUNTY REQUESTED A REIMBURSEMENT OF $100K IN GRANT FUNDS WHICH WAS PAID BACK IN 2021. REVENUE FROM COMMUNITY CAMPAIGN AND MAJOR GIFTS WAS ONLY $2,770, LEAVING US WITH NEGATIVE INCOME FOR THIS PROJECT/PROGRAM FOR THE 2021 OPERATING YEAR. EXPENSES: $135,310. GRANT EXPENSES OF $100,000. REVENUE: $2,770. SCHOLARSHIPS: WE AWARDED ONE COMPETETIVE SCHOLARSHIP, BENEFITTING STUDENTS SEEKING POST-SECONDARY SCHOOLING IN PERFORMING ARTS. EXPENSES: $2,000. GRANT EXPENSES OF $0. REVENUE: $0.
