THE ORGANIZATION'S PRIMARY EXEMPT PURPOSE IS TO BE THE AREA BUSINESS ADVOCATE AND TO BE THE PRIMARY ORGANIZATION TO MARKET THE AREA FOR VISITORS AND BUSINESS RECRUITMENT. THE SALARIES OF THE TWO FULL TIME PERSONNEL PROVIDE A FULL TIME VISITORS INFORMATION CENTER IN THE COMMUNITY. THE STAFF ANSWERS ALL VISITOR REQUESTS BY PHONE, MAIL AND IN PERSON AND PROVIDES MARKETING OPPORTUNITIES TO AREA BUSINESSES. THE CHAMBER VISITOR COUNT WAS GREATLY REDUCED THIS PAST YEAR DUE TO THE COVID PANDEMIC.
COMMUNITY PROJECTS CONSISTS OF EDUCATIONAL SCHOLARSHIPS TO LOCAL STUDENTS WHO WISH TO PURSUE A HIGHER EDUCATION IN A BUSINESS RELATED FIELD. TWO SCHOLARSHIPS ARE AWARDED EACH YEAR. THE CHAMBER ALSO PROVIDES FINANCIAL SUPPORT TO THE EDUCATION FOUNDATIONS FOR BOTH THE CAMAS AND WASHOUGAL PUBLIC SCHOOLS. THE CHAMBER ALSO PROVIDES FINANCIAL SUPPORT FOR THE DRUG AND ALCOHOL FREE GRADUATION PARTIES FOR GRADUATING SENIORS FROM BOTH CAMAS AND WASHOUGAL HIGH SCHOOLS.
