THE ORGANIZATION USES THE ARTS, PRIMARILY DANCE, AS A MEANS TO EMPOWER UNDERSERVED YOUTH WITHIN NEW YORK INNER CITY COMMUNITIES, PARTICULARLY THE NEGLECTED INNER CITY AREA OF BEDFORD STUYVESANT, BROOKLYN. THE ORGANIZATION ACCOMPLISHES THIS GOAL BY OPERATING A PERFORMANCE ARTS CENTER (CENTER). THE CENTER IS A DRUG AND ALCOHOL FREE ENVIRONMENT, LOCATED IN BEDFORD STUYVESANT TO ASSURE THE COMMUNITIES' ACCESS TO BRINGING WORLD-RENOWNED ARTISTS AND ARTISTIC OPPORTUNITIES TO THE DISTRICT. THE CENTER SERVES AS A SPRINGBOARD FOR CREATING COMMUNITY IDENTITY AND ENCOURAGING POSITIVE AND CREATIVE ACTIVITY WITHIN THE DISTRICT. THE CENTER USES DANCE AS A PLATFORM TO ENCOURAGE, INSPIRE, AND FACILITATE THE ASPIRATIONS OF YOUNG PEOPLE BY ENGENDERING WITHIN THEM DISCIPLINE, PRIDE, DETERMINATION, HUMILITY, RESPECT AND AN APPRECIATION FOR THE ARTS. THE CENTER IS AN ANCHOR OF A DYNAMIC BED-STUY CULTURAL MICRO-DISTRICT. THE CENTER SERVES AS A TRAINING GROUND FOR ELITE DANCE ARTISTS; AS A PLACE OF ARTISTIC EXCHANGE FOR PROFESSIONAL AND AMATEUR ARTISTS AS WELL AS ARTS ORGANIZATIONS; AND HOSTS MEANINGFUL, COMMUNITY-CENTERED CULTURAL EXPERIENCES, ALL OF WHICH HERALD A 21ST CENTURY CULTURAL RENAISSANCE.
