ICA SF OFFICIALLY OPENED TO THE PUBLIC ON OCTOBER 1, 2022. LEARNING FROM THE PROCESS OF THE YEAR OF STARTING UP, THE ICA SF WILL BE A MUSEUM THAT'S CONTINUOUSLY "UNDER CONSTRUCTION," RETAINING THE REQUISITE NIMBLENESS THAT COMES FROM THAT CONDITION. THROUGH EXHIBITIONS, PROGRAMMING, AND SOCIAL OPPORTUNITIES, THE ICA SF SEEKS TO BROADEN THE POSSIBILITIES FOR CIVIC AND CREATIVE ENGAGEMENT WITHIN THE REGION'S VIBRANT ECOSYSTEM AND TO ENABLE ARTISTS TO PUSH BOUNDARIES, EXPERIMENT WITH NEW IDEAS, AND TAKE RISKS.BEFORE THE MUSEUM OFFICIALLY OPENED, ICA SF PRESENTED A PROGRAM CALLED MEANTIME, TAKING PLACE JANUARY 22 - MAY 1, 2022 BETWEEN CONSTRUCTION PHASES. DURING THIS PERIOD THE ICA SF HOSTED A POP-UP INSTALLATION BY OAKLAND-BASED ARTIST CHRIS MARTIN, AND POP-UP PROGRAMS WITH 90 ARTISTS FROM AROUND THE BAY AREA. AFTER MEANTIME ENDED THE ICA SF COMPLETED CONSTRUCTION TO OPEN OCTOBER 1, 2022 WITH THE INAUGURAL EXHIBITION, JEFFREY GIBSON: THIS BURNING WORLD. IN 2022 THE ICA SF ALSO LAUNCHED A MEMBERSHIP PROGRAM, THE 901 CLUB, AS WELL AS THEIR POPULAR SERIES OF CHEF AND COFFEE POP UPS. ATTENDANCE REACHED NEARLY 10,000 VISITORS FOR THE 6 MONTH SPAN THEY WERE OPEN (REGULAR OPEN HOURS BEGAN IN OCTOBER, THE OPEN HOURS PRIOR WERE FOR SPECIAL PROGRAMS ONLY).
