Describe the Organization's Program Activity:

Part 3 - Line 4a

NEVADA SPCA TAKES IN 2500 ANIMALS ANNUALLY IN AN AVERAGE YEAR, PROVIDING THEM TEMPORARY SHELTER, MEDICAL CARE AND THEN REHOMING THEM INTO LOVING NEW FAMILIES. NEVADA SPCA IS A SAFETY NET FOR OUR COMMUNITY'S HOMELESS PETS, WITH OVER SIXTY-FIVE PERCENT OF OUR ANIMALS COMING FROM OWNERS WHO NEED TO SURRENDER THEM FOR A VARIETY OF REASONS INCLUDING FINANCIAL INSECURITY AND FAMILY CHANGES. THE REST OF OUR INTAKE IS FROM TRANSFERS FROM OTHER LOCAL SHELTERS TO HELP PETS THAT REQUIRE MORE MEDICAL ATTENTION IN ORDER TO PREPARE THEM FOR ADOPTION AND ORPHAN KITTENS FROM THE STREETS. NEVADA SPCA FOUND HOMES FOR 1114 ANIMALS IN 2021, A LOWER NUMBER THAN USUAL DUE TO OUR REDUCED CAPACITY IN OUR CURRENT SHELTER UNTIL WE WERE ABLE TO MOVE INTO OUR NEW FACILITY. IN ADDITION TO ADOPTION, NEVADA SPCA INCREASES THE HUMAN- ANIMAL BOND IN OUR COMMUNITY THROUGH ROBUST VOLUNTEER AND FOSTER PROGRAMS WITH OVER 26,743 FOSTER AND VOLUNTEER HOURS IN 2021 WHICH IS THE EQUIVALENT OF 12 FULL-TIME EMPLOYEES. NEVADA SPCA CONTINUED ITS PET PANTRY STARTED IN 2020 TO PROVIDE FREE DOG AND CAT FOOD TO OUR COMMUNITY'S PET OWNERS IN FINANCIAL NEED AND PROVIDED 22,865 MEALS TO THOSE OWNERS' PETS.
