LITIGATIONTO ALIGN WITH OUR BELIEFS OF USING THE LAW AS A TOOL TOWARD LIBERATION, BALT APPROACHES OUR LITIGATION WORK UTILIZING A MOVEMENT LAWYERING FRAMEWORK. UNDER THE DIRECTION OF OUR LEGAL DIRECTOR, OUR LITIGATION EFFORTS TARGET THE LACK OF TRANSPARENCY AROUND POLICIES AND PROCEDURES WITHIN VARIOUS GOVERNMENTAL AGENCIES AND THE CARCEL SYSTEM.DIRECT SERVICES OUR CONTINUED COMMITMENT TO DIRECTLY IMPACTED COMMUNITY MEMBERS DRIVES BALT'S DIRECT SERVICES WORK. WE ASSIST COMMUNITY MEMBERS IN NEED OF FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE WITH POSTING BAIL, HELP COMMUNITY MEMBERS FACING POTENTIAL INCARCERATION WITH WARRANT RECALL ASSISTANCE, AND HELP COMMUNITY MEMBERS NAVIGATE BARRIERS OBTAINING EMPLOYMENT, HOUSING, ETC. WITH EXPUNGEMENT SERVICES.EDUCATION SINCE ITS INCEPTION, BALT HAS TRAINED HUNDREDS OF LAWYERS, LAW STUDENTS, AND ACTIVISTS IN LEGAL OBSERVATION AND JAIL SUPPORT. IT IS OUR CONTINUED EFFORT TO PROVIDE WORKSHOPS WITH OUR SERIES LAWYERUP! AND LEARNING OPPORTUNITIES WITH OUR ANNUAL MOVEMENT LAWYERING WORKSHOP TO MEMBERS OF THE LEGAL COMMUNITY. WE HAVE EXPANDED OUR EFFORTS THROUGH THE PRODUCTION OF PRINTED MATERIALS TO TRANSLATE, TO NON-LEGALESE LANGUAGE, LEGISLATION, AND OTHER LEGAL MATTERS FOR THE NON-LEGAL, DIRECTLY IMPACTED COMMUNITY.
