THE UPTOWN COMMUNITY FOR RACIAL JUSTICE PEACEFUL SOLUTIONS BEGAN DURING 2021 OUT OF A NEED FOR CHANGE INSPIRED BY GEORGE FLOYD. COMMUNITY LEADERS, UPTOWN BUSINESSES AND CONCERNED CITIZENS ARE CHOOSING TO VOICE AN OPINION AND FIGHT FOR RACIAL EQUALITY FOR ALL. THE ORGANIZATION IS COMMITTED TO CREATING AND PROMOTING: 1) REFORMS THAT PROMOTE EFFECTIVE AND EQUITABLE LAW ENFORCEMENT. 2) EFFORTS SUPPORTING THE ELIMINATION OF STRUCTURAL RACISM. 3) OPPORTUNITIES FOR MEANINGFUL DIALOGUE BASED MOSTLY ON LISTENING THAT STIMULATES EFFORTS TO CREATE UNDERSTANDING. 4) METHODS OF HONORING THOSE LIVES LOST TO INJUSTICE AND ILLEGAL USE OF FORCE. 5) SUPPORT OPPORTUNITIES FOR ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT BY AND FOR AFRICAN AMERICANS AND ALL PEOPLES OF COLOR BY ENLISTING THE PRIVATE SECTOR, NON- PROFIT ORGANIZATIONS, LOCAL AND STATE GOVERNMENT.
