Describe the Organization's Mission:
Part 3 - Line 1
TO FOSTER AND SUPPORT THE UTAH COUNTY CHILDREN'S JUSTICE CENTER PROGRAM (CJC) THROUGH RAISING PRIVATE AND PUBLIC FUNDS TO PROVIDE FACILITIES AND SERVICES FOR CHILD ABUSE VICTIMS AND THEIR FAMILIES. THE CJC STRIVES TO REDUCE TRAUMA TO CHILD ABUSE VICTIMS/WITNESSES AND FAMILIES BY FACILITATING A CRIMINAL JUSTICE SYSTEM RESPONSE WITH A MULTIDISCIPLINARY TEAM OF PROFESSIONALS AND PROVIDING THERAPY/SERVICES FOR VICTIMS AND FAMILIES IN A SAFE, CHILD-FRIENDLY FACILITY KNOWN AS THE UTAH COUNTY CHILDREN'S JUSTICE CENTER.
Describe the Organization's Program Activity:
Part 3 - Line 4a
THE FRIENDS OF UTAH COUNTY CHILDREN'S JUSTICE CENTER FACILITATED ACCESS TO OUTPATIENT MENTAL HEALTH THERAPY IN BEHALF OF MORE THAN 275 CHILD VICTIMS AND DIRECTLY IMPACTED, NON-OFFENDING FAMILY MEMBERS. THESE GRANTS WERE PAID DIRECTLY TO COMMUNITY MENTAL HEALTH PROVIDERS FOR LMI FAMILIES THAT WOULD OTHERWISE NOT RECEIVE CRITICALLY NEEDED THERAPY FOR THE CHILD ABUSE TRAUMA THAT THEY SUFFERED. ADDITIONALLY, THIS AMOUNT WAS SIGNIFICANTLY LEVERAGED TO SERVE AS MANY CHILDREN AND FAMILIES AS POSSIBLE THROUGH THE PARTIAL DONATION OF SERVICES BY TRAINED THERAPISTS AT 50A5 OF THE NORMAL FEES FOR SERVICES. SPECIALIZED, TRAUMA INFORMED PROFESSIONAL THERAPY IS ESSENTIAL FOR HEALING CHILD ABUSE VICTIMS AND FAMILIES.
THE PROVO CHILDREN'S JUSTICE CENTER FACILITY IS PROVIDED FOR THE FULL USE OF THE UTAH COUNTY CHILDREN'S JUSTICE CENTER PROGRAM TO SERVE ALLEGED CHILD ABUSE VICTIMS AND CHILD WITNESSES OF VIOLENT CRIME. IT IS LEASED TO UTAH COUNTY GOVERNMENT FOR $1 PER YEAR (ESSENTIALLY TO PROVIDE A VALID LEASE CONTRACT WITHOUT CHARGE FOR THIS 10,000 SQUARE FOOT FACILITY). THIS FACILITY DEPRECIATION SCHEDULE AMOUNTS TO $18,817 FOR FY2021. THE ACTUAL VALUE OF THIS SPACE IS ESTIMATED TO BE MORE THAN $70,000 PER YEAR, IF RENTED. GRANTS WERE ALSO MADE TO UTAH COUNTY GOVERNMENT FOR CJC PROGRAM EXPENSES TO COVER PROFESSIONAL TRAINING, SUPPLIES, EQUIPMENT AND OTHER PROGRAM SERVICE COSTS ($2,064). ADDITIONALLY, $511 WAS PROVIDED FOR PUBLIC AWARENESS OF CHILD ABUSE ISSUES AND CJC PURPOSE AND SERVICES, WHICH IS A PART OF OUR CHARITABLE PURPOSE.
THE FRIENDS OF UTAH COUNTY CHILDREN'S JUSTICE CENTER ORGANIZATION IS WORKING TOWARDS PROVIDING A SECOND CHILD-FRIENDLY CHILDREN'S JUSTICE CENTER FACILITY IN THE NORTHERN PART OF UTAH COUNTY. THE BUILDING AND GROUNDS HAVE BEEN PURCHASED IN AMERICAN FORK CITY FOR $588,578, AND PLANS HAVE BEEN DRAFTED AND ARE CURRENTLY BEING REVIEWED BY AMERICAN FORK CITY. WE HAVE EXPERIENCED FRUSTRATING DELAYS IN THE MAJOR RENOVATION THAT IS REQUIRED TO MEET THE CJC PROGRAM NEEDS DUE TO COVID-19 AND CONTRACTOR AND MATERIALS SHORTAGES THAT HAVE RESULTED LOCALLY. THIS SECOND CENTER IS CRITICALLY NEEDED TO SERVE CHILD VICTIMS AND FAMILIES IS THIS RAPIDLY GROWING AREA OF OUR COUNTY. DURING THIS FISCAL YEAR $4,397 WAS EXPENDED TO PROVIDE ESSENTIAL FOUNDATION REPAIR AND $24,194 WAS PAID FOR RENOVATION PLANS, PERMITS, DEMOLITION AND HVAC REPAIR TO MITIGATE FUTURE PROBLEMS. AN ADDITIONAL $1592 WAS PROVIDED TO COVER THE COST OF ESSENTIAL UTILITIES FOR THE TEMPORARY UTAH COUNTY AMERICAN FORK FACILITY.
PUBLIC/PRIVATE FUNDING RAISED PRIOR FY REQUIRED SPECIAL INDEPENDENT AUDIT. THIS HAS BEEN SUCCESSFULLY COMPLETED. SIGNIFICANT NEEDED FUNDING IN ORDER TO CREATE A SECOND FUNCTIONAL CHILD-FRIENDLY FACILITY TO PROVIDE CRITICALLY NEEDED SERVICES TO CHILD VICTIMS AND FAMILIES, NECESSITATED A SPECIAL INDEPENDENT PROFESSIONAL AUDIT, IN ADDITION TO THE DONATED SERVICES OF CPA.
