DURING THE YEAR, BCNHA SUPPORTED SEVERAL ORGANIZATIONAL AND NPS MISSION INITIATIVES. PRIMARY DONATION/GRANT SUPPORT CONSISTED OF FUNDING FREE PUBLICATIONS THAT ARE DISTRIBUTED TO VISITORS. OVER 500,000 COPIES OF THE PARK VISITOR AND ORIENTATION GUIDE IS PRINTED AND DISTRIBUTED ANNUALLY. TRAIL MAPS AND OTHER INFORMATIONAL HANDOUTS ARE ALSO PRINTED THROUGH MONIES PROVIDED BY BCNHA. THE POPULAR JR. RANGER PROGRAM IS SUPPORTED BY AN ANNUAL DONATION/GRANT AND PROVIDES PROGRAM BOOKLETS, CERTIFICATES OF ACCOMPLISHMENT AND A SPECIAL JUNIOR RANGER BADGE TO YOUTHS PARTICIPATING IN THE PROGRAM. OVER 10,000 BOOKLETS, CERTIFICATES AND BADGES WERE DISTRIBUTED THROUGHOUT THE YEAR. BECAUSE OF THE COVID-19 PANDEMIC, THE SIGNIFICANT FUNDING SUPPORT THAT HAS BEEN TRADITIONALLY PROVIDED FOR THE ANNUAL ASTRONOMY AND GEOLOGY FESTIVALS WAS NOT NEEDED DUE TO CANCELATION OF ALL FESTIVALS. HOWEVER, SUBSTANTIAL FUNDING WAS PROVIDED TO COMPLETE A DETAILED ENGINEERING AND GEOTECHNICAL EVALUATION OF THE NAVAJO LOOP TRAIL NETWORK TO HELP IN BETTER DESIGN OF RETAINING WALLS AND TRAIL DRAINAGE. IN ADDITION, FUNDING WAS GIVEN TO COVER THE COST OF AN ONGOING GEOLOGIC MAPPING AND HAZARD EVALUATION STUDY BEING CONDUCTED BY THE UTAH GEOLOGICAL SURVEY. THIS TWO-YEAR PROJECT WILL CULMINATE IN 2021 AND HELP BRYCE CANYON NATIONAL PARK BETTER MANAGE GEOLOGIC RESOURCES AND PROVIDE GREATER SAFETY FOR VISITORS ACCESSING TRAILS IN THE PARK. DONATED MONIES ALSO SUPPORTED HOUSING FOR VOLUNTEERS AND SEASONAL EMPLOYEES THAT ARE CRITICAL TO THE INTERPRETIVE AND RESOURCE MANAGEMENT OPERATIONS AT BRYCE CANYON.
