Part 3 - Line 4a
DURING THE REPORTING YEAR THE ORGANIZATION PROVIDED PROGRAMING AND SERVICES TO OVER 35,000 VISITORS.
IN THE SUMMER OF 2023, WE WORKED WITH A SPONSOR, COMPASSION AND CHOICES, TO BRING INTERNATIONALLY RENOWN MAORI ARTIST GEORGE NUKU TO WORK WITH HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS AND CREATE AN ART INSTALLATION ABOUT PLASTIC USE AND PROTECTING THE OCEAN. IN ADDITION TO SUPPORTING HIS WORK AT OUR MUSEUM, THEY ALSO DONATED TWO BIG CEILING FANS THAT HAVE MADE THE SPACE INCREDIBLY MORE COMFORTABLE FOR EVERYONE.
IN 2023 WE KICKED OFF CONSTRUCTION OF AN EXHIBIT THAT WILL PROVIDE A LOT OF FUTURE PROGRAMMING AND OPPORTUNITIES FOR LOCAL KIDS. "MARBLE MADNESS" IS AN INTERACTIVE, COMMUNITY ART PIECE THAT LETS US TEACH KIDS HOW TO ENGINEER MARBLE TRACKS OUT OF CARDBOARD, 3D PRINT THEM, USE THE LASER CUTTER, AND THE CNC MACHINE. THIS EXHIBIT WAS SPONSORED BY A VERY GENEROUS PRIVATE DONOR.
