THE SRI FOUNDATION SEEKS TO ENRICH SOCIETY BY FOSTERING HISTORIC PRESERVATION. THE FOUNDATION ACHIEVES THIS MISSION BY CREATING AN UNDERSTANDING AND APPRECIATION OF OUR SHARED PAST AND BY IMPROVING THE PRACTICE OF HISTORIC PRESERVATION.

REGULATORY COMPLIANCE: THIS PROGRAM INVOLVES PROVIDING TECHNICAL EXPERTISE IN THE AREAS OF HISTORIC PRESERVATION PLANNING, COMPLIANCE WITH SECTION 106 OF THE NATIONAL HISTORIC PRESERVATION ACT, INTEGRATION OF SECTION 106 AND THE NATIONAL ENVIRONMENTAL POLICY ACT (NEPA), AND NATIVE AMERICAN CONSULTATION. THIS PROGRAM ALSO PROVIDES GUIDANCE ON INTEGRATING AN AGENCYS HISTORIC PRESERVATION RESPONSIBILITIES WITH AGENCY MISSIONS AND PROGRAMS.


HISTORIC PRESERVATION: THIS PROGRAM INVOLVES THE CONDUCTING OF NATIONAL STUDIES ON HISTORIC PRESERVATION IN ASSOCIATION WITH INFRASTRUCTURE PROJECTS, INCLUDING EFFECTIVE MANAGEMENT PRACTICES FOR ARCHAEOLOGICAL INVESTIGATIONS, CONSIDERATION OF HISTORIC PRESERVATION FACTORS DURING EARLY PROJECT PLANNING AND PROJECT DEVELOPMENT, AND THE NATIONAL REGISTER EVALUATION OF HISTORIC PROPERTIES ON INFRASTRUCTURE PROJECTS.


CONTINUING EDUCATION: THE FOUNDATIONS CONTINUING PROFESSIONAL EDUCATION PROGRAM INCLUDES A WIDE VARIETY OF COURSES AND WORKSHOPS, SUCH AS PRINCIPLES OF TRIBAL CONSULTATION, PRINCIPLES AND PRACTICE OF SECTION 106, SECTION 106 FOR TRIBES, INTEGRATING THE PAST: PUBLIC PROGRAMMING AND CRM CONTRACTS, AND INTEGRATING THE NATIONAL ENVIRONMENTAL POLICY ACT AND SECTION 106. THESE AND OTHER COURSES ARE PROVIDED TO FEDERAL AGENCIES, STATE DEPARTMENTS OF TRANSPORTATION, STATE HISTORIC PRESERVATION OFFICES, TRIBES, AND CULTURAL RESOURCE MANAGEMENT FIRMS NATIONWIDE.
