RESEARCH: SINCE ITS FOUNDING IN 1993, THE ALZHEIMER'S RESEARCH AND PREVENTION FOUNDATION HAS FUNDED CLOSE TO $2 MILLION IN DIRECT ALZHEIMER'S PREVENTION RESEARCH. THE FOUNDATION HAS A $1 MILLION BOARD DESIGNATED FUND FOR FUTURE RESEARCH. IN 2021, WE CHAMPIONED THE PREVENTION OF ALZHEIMER'S DISEASE BY COMPLETING THE PINK BRAIN PROJECT AT UCLA, DEPARTMENT OF PSYCHIATRY, AND BEGINNING A NEW STUDY IN CONJUNCTION WITH THE FINGER STUDY, THE LARGEST PREVENTION STUDY IN THE WORLD. WE ALSO CONTINUED TO PUBLISH RESULTS IN LEADING SCIENTIFIC, PEER-REVIEWED JOURNALS, ESPECIALLY A NEW BREAKTHROUGH PAPER TITLED "SPIRITUAL FITNESS: A NEW DIMENSION IN ALZHEIMER'S DISEASE PREVENTION". OUR PRESIDENT, DR. KHALSA, ALSO SERVED AS PREVENTION EDITOR FOR THE JOURNAL OF ALZHEIMER'S PREVENTION, WORKING ON PREVENTION-RELATED SCIENTIFIC ARTICLES. THIS YEAR, THE ALZHEIMER'S RESEARCH AND PREVENTION FOUNDATION LAUNCHED UPDATES TO OUR BRAIN LONGEVITY THERAPY TRAINING THAT REFLECT THE IMPORTANCE OF INCLUSION OF THOSE WHO ARE AT HIGHER RISK OF ALZHEIMER'S, NOTABLY AFRICAN AMERICANS AND HISPANIC AMERICANS. IN 2021, AS THE WORLD WAITED TO GO "BACK TO NORMAL" AFTER COVID-19, THE ALZHEIMER'S RESEARCH AND PREVENTION FOUNDATION, STRENGTHENED ITS ONLINE PROGRAMS IN ORDER TO SERVE MORE INDIVIDUALS AND FAMILIES. WE BELIEVE THAT NOT ONLY IT'S IMPORTANT TO CONTINUE TO EDUCATE THE PUBLIC AND HEALTHCARE PROVIDERS, BUT IT'S ESSENTIAL TO CONNECT WITH PEOPLE, AS MANY SENIORS ARE STILL OBSERVING ISOLATION AND SUFFER GREATLY FROM LACK OF SOCIAL INTERACTION. OUTREACH: THIS YEAR, WE LAUNCHED THE MEDITATE FOR YOUR MEMORY CHALLENGE, WHICH REVOLVED AROUND MEETING DAILY ON ZOOM FOR 30 MINUTES AND PRACTICING A MEDITATION SHOWN TO IMPROVE MEMORY. THIS WAS VERY POPULAR AND A GREAT SERVICE TO OUR FOLLOWERS. OUR EDUCATIONAL CAMPAIGNS PROVIDED TIPS AND TOOLS FOR PEOPLE AT RISK TO KEEP A BRAIN-HEALTHY LIFESTYLE TO REDUCE THEIR RISK FACTORS FOR THE DEVELOPMENT OF ALZHEIMER'S. OUR ONLINE WEBINARS FOCUSED ON PROVIDING SUPPORT AND LIFE-ENHANCING TRAINING CLASSES, WITH ACCESSIBLE AND CREATIVE CONTENT THAT BECAME GREATLY POPULAR AND VALUED. PROFESSIONAL TRAININGS: ALZHEIMER'S RESEARCH AND PREVENTION FOUNDATION'S BRAIN LONGEVITY THERAPY TRAININGS PROVIDED TRAINING FOR ALLIED HEALTH CARE PROVIDERS, CAREGIVERS AND LAYPEOPLE. THIS BREAKTHROUGH CERTIFICATION PROGRAM PROVIDES HANDS-ON EDUCATION THAT HELPS TO PREVENT ALZHEIMER'S, AS WELL AS CONTINUING EDUCATION AND SUPPORT TO ALL THE PARTICIPANTS. OUR GOAL IS TO EMPOWER PROFESSIONALS WHO CAN THEN SHARE WITH THEIR COMMUNITIES THE SCIENTIFICALLY PROVEN MODALITIES TO KEEP THEIR BRAIN SHARP AS THEY AGE. IN 2021, WE RECEIVED SIGNIFICANT AMOUNT OF VOLUNTEER HELP, TOTALING APPROX. 1,000 HOURS. WHILE THE UNCERTAINTY AND FEAR OF COVID-19 GRIPPED MOST HOUSEHOLDS IN THE US AND INDEED AROUND THE WORD, WE AT ALZHEIMER'S RESEARCH AND PREVENTION FOUNDATION CONTINUED TO BRING SUPPORT, HOPE, EDUCATION AND CARE TO ALL PEOPLE WHO TUNED IN TO OUR PROGRAMS.
