DESERT SURVIVORS HAS CONTINUED TO OFFER EMPLOYMENT SERVICES TO ADULTS WITH INTELLECTUAL DEVELOPMENTAL DISABILITIES I/DD THROUGHOUT THE LAST YEAR AND THROUGH THE COVID 19 PANDEMIC. WE HAVE USED DIFFERENT STRATEGIES AND PROTOCOLS TO KEEP EVERYONE SAFE DURING THESE DIFFICULT TIMES. WE ARE ABLE TO ADD A NEW BUILDING TO PROVIDE MORE INDOOR SPACE ALLOWING FOR SOCIAL DISTANING WHILE OFFERING SAFETY TO ALL OUR WORKERS WITH I/DD DURING THE EXTREME HEAT WARNINGS. WE PURCHASED A NEW FORD F150 TRUCK SO THAT NURSERY HAS THE USE OF A TRUCK ALONG WITH ADMIN STAFF AND IT IS A BACKUP FOR OFF-SITE WORK PROGRAMS IF ONE OF THOSE VEHICLES NEEDS REPAIR OR MAINTENANCE. AS OF MAY 2022, WE WERE AWARDED A CONTRACT THROUGH KNOWLEDGE SERVICES FOR REHABILITATION ADMINISTRATION SERVICES TO PROVIDE WORK ADJUSTMENT TRAINING AND TRIAL WORK EXPERIENCE FOR UP TO FOUR INDIVIDUALS WITRH I/DD. WE ARE SERVING UP TO 42 INDIVIDUALS WITH I/DD THROUGH OUR CONTRACT WITH DES/DDD. WE HAVE CONTINUED TO SELL PLANTS AND TREES TO THE PUBLIC THROUGHOUT THE PANDEMIC.
