PROVIDES VOCATIONAL TRAINING AND REHABILITATION FOR DEVELOPMENTALLY DISABLED ADULTS IN SISKIYOU COUNTY, CALIFORNIA.

THE ORGANIZATION'S WORK ACTIVITY PROGRAM EMPLOYES WORKERS IN THREE DIFFERENT FIELDS WHERE THEY LEARN VARIOUS EMPLOYMENT SKILLS. 1) WORK SERVICES - EMPLOYS WORKERS ON-SITE AND OFF-SITE IN WOOD PRODUCTION, LANDSCAPING, AND JANITORIAL SERVICES WHERE THEY LEARN SKILLS ASSOCIATED WITH THOSE VOCATIONS. 2) RECYCLING SERVICES - EMPLOYS WORKERS AT THE ORGANIZATION'S STATE CERTIFIED RECYCLING CENTER WHERE WORKERS LEARN TO OPERATE MACHINERY, CUSTOMER SERVICE SKILLS, HOW TO DRESS FOR OUTDOOR WORK, AND TO HAVE ACCESS TO THEIR COMMUNITIES PICKING UP RECYCLING. 3) COMMUNITY ENDEAVORS - A COMMUNITY INTEGRATION TRAINING (C.I.T.) PROGRAM THAT FOCUSES ON WORK SKILLS, PERSONAL AND SOCIAL SKILLS, AND COMMUNITY BASED ACTIVITIES. THE GOAL IS TO PROVIDE CLIENTS WITH WORK EXPERIENCES THAT WILL ASSIST THEM IN OBTAINING MEANINGFUL EMPLOYMENT WITHIN THE LOCAL COMMUNITY. THIS IS ACCOMPLISHED BY PROVIDING CLIENTS WITH ACTUAL WORK SUCH AS JANITORIAL, MAILING SERVICES, SHREDDING, MOBILE SNACK BOX SERVICES AND MARBLE SET ASSEMBLY. THE ORGANIZATION ALSO FOCUSES ON SOCIAL ACTIVITIES THAT INCLUDE ARTS AND CRAFTS, SEWING, COOKING CLASSES, AND WOODWORKING PROJECTS. IN ADDITION, THEY PROVIDE CLIENTS WITH MEANINGFUL LOCAL VOLUNTEER ACTIVITIES WITHIN THE COMMUNITY.


REHABILITATION - PROVIDES JOB COACHING, PLACEMENT, AND SUPPORT SERVICES TO WORKERS.


SUPPORTED EMPLOYMENT - PROVIDES WORKERS WITH EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITIES WITHIN A COMMUNITY SETTING EITHER AS A GROUP OR INDIVIDUALLY. THESE WORKERS ACQUIRE SKILLS IN MANY TRADES WHILE ALSO LEARNING VALUABLE COMMUNITY ACCESS SKILLS SUCH AS COMMUNICATION, PROFESSIONALISM, AND PROBLEM SOLVING. WE HAVE 1 WORKER IN AN INDIVIDUAL PLACEMENT, EMPLOYED THROUGH A LOCAL BUSINESS, AND 16 WORKERS IN GROUP PLACEMENT THROUGHOUT THE COUNTY.


TRANSPORTATION - THIS PROGRAM PROVIDES TRANSPORTATION TO AND FROM WORK FOR THE WORKERS OF THE ORGANIZATION.
