ADULT LIFE ENRICHMENT PROGRAMS: FIVE ADULT LIFE ENRICHMENT DAY PROGRAMS IN THE NORTHWEST VALLEY PROVIDING SOCIAL, PHYSICAL, AND MENTAL STIMULATION INTEGRAL TO SUCCESSFUL AGING. EACH PROGRAM'S UNIQUINESS ADDRESSES THE SPECIFIC NEEDS OF OLDER ADULTS LIVING WITH ALZHEIMER'S DISEASE, CHRONIC ILLNESS, OR INTELLECTUAL AND DEVELOPMENTAL DISABILITIES. OUR SERVICE AREA INCLUDES THE CITIES OF EL MIRAGE, GLENDALE, PEORIA, SUN CITY, SUN CITY WEST, AND SURPRISE. WE PARTNER WITH THE AREA AGENCY ON AGING, VETERANS ADMINISTRATION, ARIZONA DEPARTMENT OF ECONOMIC SECURITY, AND MANY OTHER ORGANIZATIONS TO MAXIMIZE OUR SERVICE TO AREA RESIDENTS, FOR PEOPLE WHO MIGHT BE AT RISK TO DEVELOP DEMENTIA, PARKINSON'S OR (CONT'D ON SCH O) STROKE SURVIVORS.ALL FIVE OF OUR LIFE ENRICHMENT DAY PROGRAMS ARE ACCREDITED THROUGH CARF (COMMISSION ON ACCREDITATION OF REHABILITATION FACILITIES), EXCEED THE EXPECTATIONS OF THE DEPARTMENT OF HEALTH SERVICES AND MAINTAIN BEST PRACTICES IN THE FIELD OF ADULT DAY SERVICES. EACH PROGRAM PROVIDES ANALTERNATIVE TO INSTITUTIONAL CARE, AND HELPS OLDER ADULTS REMAIN INDEPENDENT AT HOME FOR AS LONG AS POSSIBLE.
WIRTZIE'S CHILD DEVELOPMENT CENTER: THE WIRTZIE'S GOAL IS TO PROVIDE A COMMUNITY WHERE RELATIONSHIPS ARE BUILT AND EVERYONE CONTRIBUTES AND BELONGS. EACH CHILD WHO ATTENDS WIRTZIE'S HAS UNIQUE MENTAL, PHYSICAL, AND SOCIAL CHARACTERISTICS. BECAUSE EACH CHILD IS UNIQUE, THE WIRTZIE'S CURRICULUM IS DESIGNED TO FIND THE OPTIMAL BALANCE OF STRUCTURE AND FREEDOM FOR A CHILD'S PARTICULAR NEEDS. THE PROGRAM IS CERTIFIED RATED 4 STARS THROUGH QUALITY FIRST AND IS NATIONALLY ACCREDITED FROM THE NATIONAL ACCREDITATION COMMISSION FOR EARLY CARE AND EDUCATION PROGRAMS. OUR PROGRAMS ARE DESIGNED TO PROVIDE AGE-APPROPRIATE, CHILD-DIRECTED ACTIVITIES THAT WILL INSPIRE CHILDREN TO LEARN AND (CONT'D ON SCH O) DISCOVER THROUGH PLAY AND THE SPARK OF THEIR OWN NATURAL CURIOSITY. THE ARTS CENTER FOR ALL AGES IS A DEDICATED SPACE BETWEEN ONE OF OUR LIFE ENRICHMENT DAY PROGRAMS AND WIRTZIE'S PROVIDING STRUCTURED OPPORTUNITIES WHERE CHILDREN AND OLDER GENERATIONS COME TOGETHER TO GROW, LEARN ABOUT THEMSELVES AND OTHERS, AND FORM RELATIONSHIPS THAT CAN BE LIFE CHANGING. THE PROGRAM ALSO FEATURES A SENSORY GARDEN READING ROOM, AND PERFORMANCE STAGE.
FAMILY RESOURCE CENTER:THE FAMILY RESOURCE CENTER WORKS TO STRENGTHEN FAMILIES WITH CHILDREN FIVE YEARS AND UNDER. THE PROGRAM OFFERS CLASSES, EVENTS AND A LIBRARY OF COMMUNITY RESOURCES. OVER 3,886 FAMILIES SERVED INCLUDING GRANDPARENTS RAISING GRANDCHILDREN. THE SERVICE TERRITORIES INCLUDE THE NORTHWEST MARICOPA REGION INCLUDING GLENDALE, PEORIA, SUN CITIES, SURPRISE, EL MIRAGE, WADDELL, WITTMAN, WICKENBURG, MORRISTOWN AND AGUILA.
VOLUNTEER HOME SERVICES:OVER 137 VOLUNTEERS ARE THE HEARTS AND HANDS OF BENEVILLA BY PROVIDING ASSISTED TRANSPORTATION TO MEDICAL APPOINTMENTS, GROCERY SHOPPING, FRIENDLY VISITORS, HANDYMAN SERVICES, BUSINESS ASSISTANCE, AND PHONE PALS. VOLUNTEERS PROVIDE 8,953 HOURS OF SERVICE AND 1,155 GROCERY DELIVERIES TO THE COMMUNITIES IN THE WEST VALLEY. IN 2021, BENEVILLA PARTNERED WITH A LOCAL PHARMACY TO PROVIDE A COVID-19 DRIVE -THRU VACCINE CLINIC PROVIDING 356 VACCINATIONS FOR OUR MEMBERS, VOLUNTEERS AND HOME BOUND OLDER ADULTS IN THE COMMUNITY. VOLUNTEERS AND STAFF ASSISTED WITH TRANSPORTATION SERVICES TO ENSURE THIS VULNERABLE POPULATION HAD AN OPPORTUNITY TO RECEIVE THE VACCINE AND TRANSPORTATION WAS NOT A BARRIER TO ACCESS.BENVILLA C.A.R.E.S. INFO & RESOURCES:BENEVILLA PROVIDES EDUCATION AND INFORMATION TO THE COMMUNITY FREE OF CHARGE. RESOURCE SPECIALISTS CAN ANSWER A WIDE VARIETY OF QUESTIONS LIKE HOW TO FIND A RIDE TO THE DOCTOR OR HOW TO FIND A REPUTABLE HOME CARE SERVICE. HIGHLY TRAINED RESOURCE SPECIALISTS HAVE ACCESS TO A DATABASE OF OVER 1,000 PROVIDERS AND AGENCIES, INCLUDING BENEVILLA MEMBER AND VOLUNTEER SERVICES, COMMUNITY BUSINESSES, GOVERNMENT AGENCIES, AND OTHER RESOURCES TO HELP THE COMMUNITY WE SERVE REMAIN INDEPENDENT AT HOME. RESOURCE SPECIALISTS ARE AVAILABLE TO TALK DURING BUSINESS HOURS AT BENEFITNESS ADAPTIVE GYM, AT THE SUN CITY WEST RESOURCE OFFICE OR BY CALLING FOR AN APPOINTMENT.
