THE UNLV STUDENT CHAPTER WAS AWARDED THE MOUNTAIN DISTRICT STUDENT CHAPTER OF THE YEAR AWARD FOR 2021-2022. APPROXIMATELY 17 EVENTS WERE HOSTED FOR UNLV STUDENTS INCLUDING SEVERAL TRANSPORTATION SEMINARS, OFFICE TOURS AND TECHNICAL TOURS, AND PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT AND NETWORKING EVENTS. THE TRANSPORTATION SEMINARS PRESENTED GUEST SPEAKERS IN VARIOUS TRANSPORTATION ENGINEERING SUBDISCIPLINES TO THE STUDENTS AND ANSWERED QUESTIONS PERTAINING TO THEIR RESPECTIVE INDUSTRIES. OFFICE TOURS AND TECHNICAL TOURS OFFERED STUDENTS THE ABILITY TO LEARN MORE ABOUT PRIVATE AND PUBLIC ENTITIES HIRING INTERNSHIP POSITIONS, AS WELL AS PROVIDED TECHNICAL ENGINEERING INFORMATION PERTAINING TO GEOTECHNICAL ENGINEERING AND TUNNELS, TRAFFIC SIGNAL OPTIMIZATION AND OPERATIONS, AND COMPUTER SCIENCE RELATED PROGRAMMING CAPABILITIES OF AUTONOMOUS VEHICLES. PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT AND NETWORKING EVENTS FOCUSED ON INTRODUCING STUDENTS TO ESTABLISHED ENGINEERS IN BOTH THE PUBLIC AND PRIVATE SECTORS. ALL OF THESE EVENTS WERE OFFERED TO THE STUDENTS AS A MEANS TO EXPAND THEIR SCIENTIFIC AND EDUCATIONAL KNOWLEDGE, IN CONJUNCTION WITH THAT PROVIDED BY THEIR EDUCATION AT THE UNIVERSITY OF NEVADA, LAS VEGAS HOWARD HUGHES COLLEGE OF ENGINEERING DEPARTMENT.
