Describe the Organization's Mission:
Part 3 - Line 1
BCSI IS A WORKFORCE READINESS ORGANIZATION DRIVEN BY EQUITABLE ACCESS TO GOOD JOBS IN BIOSCIENCE FOR TECHNICALLY QUALIFIED INDIVIDUALS. WE PERFORM PRACTICAL TESTING OF VALUABLE LAB SKILLS AND AWARD DIGITAL MICROCREDENTIALS TO OUR PARTICIPANTS AS EVIDENCE OF THEIR SKILL LEVEL SO THEY CAN PURSUE CAREERS IN THIS SECTOR WHETHER THEY HAVE DEGREES OR NOT.
Describe the Organization's Program Activity:
Part 3 - Line 4a
IN THE LAST 12 MONTHS, BCSI AWARDED 1754 SKILLS BADGES TO STUDENTS AND TRAINEES IN 20 DIFFERENT STATES. WE ENGAGED NEW PROGRAMS IN TEXAS, CALIFORNIA, NEW HAMPSHIRE, MARYLAND, AND MASSACHUSETTS. THESE NEW PROGRAMS INCLUDED FEDERAL EDUCATION TRAINING PROGRAMS SUCH AS THE FOUNDATION FOR EDUCATION IN SCIENCE AT THE NATIONAL INSTITUTES OF HEALTH. OUR EXISTING PROGRAMS REPORT THAT OUR MICROCREDENTIALS GIVE THEIR GRADUATES AN EDGE WHEN THEY ENTER THE WORKFORCE. ALSO REPORTED IN OUR DATA, THE PROGRAMS SEE MARKED IMPROVEMENT IN THE QUALITY OF THEIR TRAINING PROGRAMS AFTER BEING TESTED BY BCSI. IT WOULD BE DIFFICULT TO QUANTIFY THIS IMPACT, BUT THE AVERAGE PROGRAM IMPACTS 30-45 STUDENTS PER YEAR AND WE INTERACT WITH DOZENS OF PARTNER PROGRAMS.
