DEDICATED TO ASSISTING KERN COUNTY RESIDENTS WHO NEED FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE IN OBTAINING TREATMENT FOR CANCER AND ASSOCIATED DISEASES.

Part 3 - Line 4a

THE KERN COUNTY CANCER FUND IS A PROGRAM TO ASSIST KERN COUNTY RESIDENTS WHO NEED FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE IN OBTAINING A DIAGNOSIS AND TREATMENT FOR CANCER AND ASSOCIATED DISEASES. PROGRAM APPLICANTS ARE INDIVIDUALLY REVIEWED BY A PATIENT ELIGIBILITY COMMITTEE. THE PRIMARY CONSIDERATION FOR ACCEPTANCE IS A DEMONSTRATED NEED FOR FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE FROM A LOCAL PATIENT TO OBTAIN CANCER TREATMENT AND CARE. THE TRANSPORTATION PROGRAM ASSISTS QUALIFYING CHILDREN AND THEIR FAMILIES BY TRANSPORTING THEM FREE OF CHARGE TO TREATMENT. THE FOUNDATION COLLABORATES WITH SOCIAL WORKERS AT HOSPITALS TO IDENTIFY CHILDREN THAT CAN BENEFIT FROM THE SERVICE. TRANSPORTATION TO BAKERSFIELD IS ALSO PROVIDED TO ELIGIBLE ADULT PATIENTS LIVING INOUTLYING AREAS FOR TREATMENT.
