Describe the Organization's Program Activity:

Part 3 - Line 4a

IN 2023, THE RESTORATIVE COMMUNITY PROJECT (RCP) CONTINUED IN TWO PARTS. THE FIRST, WAS THE COMPLETION OF TRAINING OUR FALL COHORT OF RESTORATIVE PRACTITIONERS. THEY FOCUSED ON MENTAL HEALTH FOR YOUTH IN THE COMMUNITY AND HAD MANY GENERATIVE DISCUSSION ON HOW THEY COULD APPLY THEIR LESSONS TO THEIR SCHOOLS AND OTHER SPACES. THEY CONTINUED ONWARDS AS THE YOUTH ADVISORY BOARD AND HELD MANY EVENTS INCLUDING A SUMMER KICKBACK WHERE ~100 YOUTH HAD THE OPPORTUNITY TO NETWORK, CREATE ART, AND HAVE A SAFE SPACE ON A FRIDAY EVENING IN THE SUMMER. WE ALSO RAN THE SECOND ITERATION OF SUMMER RCP WHERE WE PROVIDED OVER 100 HOURS OF RESTORATIVE TRAINING AND PROGRAMMING TO 8 YOUTH OVER THE SUMMER (INCLUDING A MENTAL HEALTH RETREAT TO THE POCONOS).

WE CONTINUED OUR RESTORATIVE JUSTICE DIVERSION PROGRAM WITH THE PHILADELPHIA DISTRICT ATTORNEY'S OFFICE (PDAO). WE PROCESS REFERRAL CASES OF YOUTH BETWEEN 13 AND 17.5 YEARS OF AGE FACING CHARGES UP TO A FELONY AND CREATE CRITICAL HEALING SPACES FOR OUR YOUTH AND THE PERSON HARMED TO PURSUE RECONCILIATION OUTSIDE OF THE PUNITIVE LEGAL SYSTEM. THIS HELPS TO ADDRESS ROOT CAUSES AND WORK TOWARDS PREVENTING CRIMINALIZATION. IN 2023, WE WORKED WITH 27 YOUTH WHO WERE ALL SUCCESSFULLY DIVERTED (WITH OUR CURRENT REARREST RATE FROM INCEPTION BEING 0%). WE WERE ALSO ABLE TO PROVIDE $2800 IN EMERGENCY PAYMENTS TO SUPPORT FAMILIES WITH RENTAL PAYMENTS, CAR REPAIRS, FUNERAL EXPENSES, ETC. WE ALSO HAD TWO YOUTH WHO COMPLETED DIVERSION RETURN AND SERVE AS MENTORS AND FACILITATORS, PAID FOR THEIR WORK IN ASSISTING FUTURE YOUTH WHO MAY BE DIVERTED.
